Do you want to make a difference for students who need extra support in their schooling?

We are now looking for an engaged and knowledgeable special needs teacher for our special needs team at Hanahöj and Hånger schools – we warmly welcome your application!

Hanahöj School is a preschool to year 6 school with approximately 170 students located in Forsheda, about 1.5 miles west of Värnamo.

Hånger School is a smaller school with approximately 60 students located about 1.5 miles south of Värnamo.

Responsibilities

You will become part of our special needs team, which also includes special educators and special/Swedish as a Second Language (SVA) teachers. Together with class teachers, students, and guardians, you will create good conditions for learning through support measures, adaptations, and good relationships. The role involves teaching and support for students in grades preschool to 3, as well as grades 4–6, with a particular focus on early reading and writing development and some mathematics. You work with individualized interventions both in the classroom and in smaller groups, and contribute to the development of the school's accessible learning environments for preschool to 3 and grades 4–6. The responsibilities also include documentation in Prorenata, work with screenings and action plans, as well as some supervision of colleagues and work teams. You collaborate closely with the Student Health Team (SHT). The position is initially based at Hanahöj School, but responsibilities at Hånger School will be included in the long run.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a certified special needs teacher in Swedish, preferably with a focus on language and reading development, and have a teaching license for primary school. You have experience in special education and good digital competence. Knowledge of dyslexia and neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF) is meritorious. As a person, you are independent, curious, and relationship-building, while also being structured and confident in creating clear frameworks for students' learning. You want to contribute to an stimulating learning environment where every student has the opportunity to develop, and you find it easy to collaborate with colleagues for the students' best interests.
