The Department of Culture and Leisure is responsible for the municipality's cultural and leisure activities and works to create accessible, safe, and meaningful environments for residents in Botkyrka. The department's assignments include, among other things, libraries, cultural school, art activities, sports, and open leisure activities. We contribute to vibrant and safe living environments and enable residents of Botkyrka to develop their interests. With a meaningful leisure time, people feel better, which strengthens public health.

The activity area of Art, Library, and Cultural School includes Botkyrka Art Hall, Botkyrka Library, and Botkyrka Cultural School. Botkyrka Library consists of six libraries that are shaped in close interaction with their local areas and with the resident as a co-actor. The library activities have a clear focus on promoting reading and language, accessibility, and outreach activities, with the goal of strengthening equality, participation, and local democracy.

Botkyrka Cultural School offers children and young people the opportunity to participate in various activities and courses during their free time in music, dance, theater, art, and media. In the cultural school, participants get the opportunity to develop their creative and artistic skills. The activity is located in the cultural school's own premises in Tumba, Tullinge, and Hallunda, as well as at the municipality's schools, youth centers, and sports halls. The cultural school has approximately 1,700 student places and a good amount of open activities. Every semester, the students invite the public to a large selection of concerts, film screenings, vernissages, dance, and theater performances. Through world orientation, cross-disciplinary activities, and innovation, Botkyrka Cultural School becomes an activity in line with Botkyrka Municipality's motto "Far from mediocre".

The position and duties

Botkyrka Cultural School is looking for an engaged percussion teacher who is passionate about giving children and young people the opportunity to discover, explore, and develop their own musicality. Your main tasks will be:

• teaching students (primarily in smaller groups)
• participate in orchestra activities
• carry out outreach activities together with colleagues
• recruit new students
• planning and administrative tasks related to the assignment
• work on subject and activity development

You are scheduled for afternoons and evenings as well as occasional weekends.

We offer you

You will be part of a collegium of approximately 50 engaged, experienced, and well-educated teachers in music, dance, theater, and film/animation. Together, we work to develop the cultural school's activities with the changes and opportunities we encounter in our time.

You who apply to us

Requirements: We want you to have a university education in your instrument and pedagogy or equivalent that we assess as comparable. You have experience teaching groups of children and young people and a strong interest and experience in developing methodology based on the different needs and conditions of children and young people. You are open, fearless, and energetic, and ready to try new paths to take advantage of the students' own engagement and their creativity.

The teaching is scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Merits: You are well acquainted with an intercultural approach and have good experience of working and operating in environments characterized by diversity.
