The Department of Criminology is seeking a research assistant for a project on the use of knowledge in criminal policy in Sweden during the years 1853–2024.

The purpose of the project is, first, to analyze the knowledge claims that our national politicians have presented when commenting on criminal policy issues, how and whether this has changed over time, and, second, to thereby contribute a historical perspective to today's criminal policy.

Job Responsibilities

The tasks consist mainly of inventorying, excerpting, and thematizing relevant historical source material, primarily parliamentary publications from the mid-19th century onwards, as well as some analysis of material from identified knowledge nodes such as the Riksdag's Research Service and the Office of the Parliamentary Ombudsmen.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Criminology. Previous experience in historical criminological investigations and analysis of public prints is desirable.

About the Position

The position is part-time (50%) and fixed-term from 2026-08-17 to 2027-02-16. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting.
