The Department of Occupational Therapy is a dynamic and creative educational and research environment within the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society, located at Campus Flemingsberg in southern Stockholm. We are looking for a professor with strong qualifications in occupational therapy, work science, and pedagogy, who can contribute to and further develop occupational therapy, activity science, and education at Karolinska Institutet with great commitment.

The department's vision is to contribute to improving people's health through research, education, and interprofessional collaboration based on scientific evidence within occupational therapy and activity science.

Education is offered at the first-cycle level (Occupational Therapy Programme), second-cycle level (Master in Occupational Therapy), as well as standalone and elective courses, and at the doctoral level. The department has approximately 50 employees, about 10 registered doctoral students, and comprises three research groups conducting interdisciplinary research within occupational therapy.

Subject Description

Occupational therapy is the main subject within one of Karolinska Institutet's first-cycle educational programs, the Occupational Therapy Programme, and in advanced-level courses in the field. The scientific discipline of occupational therapy is based on theory and practice regarding human activities that create engagement and change at the individual, group, and system levels. The subject develops knowledge about human activities and how these can be used in daily activities and occupational therapy. Through education and research in occupational therapy and activity science, health equity and social change can be promoted.

Your Role

We are looking for you who have internationally leading research activities within occupational therapy and activity science, as well as experience in both leading educational activities and conducting pedagogical development work.

At the Department of Occupational Therapy, there is a stimulating and creative work environment. Together with engaged colleagues, you will conduct high-quality research and education as a professor. As a professor, you will lead a research group expected to conduct internationally leading research within occupational therapy and activity science.

The duties include teaching and examination on the Occupational Therapy Programme's courses within the main field of occupational therapy. The role involves responsibility for linking education to research, representing the main field, and further developing collaboration with clinical activities. Teaching and examination at the advanced level may also be part of the duties, as well as teaching on doctoral education courses. You will be leading in educational activities and pedagogical development work.

Qualifications

Eligible for appointment as a professor with a focus on education and research is someone who has demonstrated excellent pedagogical skill and very good scientific skill.

Additional Qualifications

You must have completed an occupational therapy degree, be a licensed occupational therapist, or have equivalent education in occupational therapy and activity science.

Since the position includes duties as an examiner, you must possess knowledge and skills in Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish (C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR). The upcoming interview may therefore be conducted entirely or partially in Swedish.

Additionally, you must have completed higher education pedagogy training comprising 10 weeks according to SUHF's recommendations for eligibility-granting higher education pedagogical training. If such training is lacking at the time of employment, you must undergo such training within the framework of the employment during the first two years of the appointment.

Evaluation Criteria

The position focuses on education and research. For this position, the weighting of merits will be as follows: scientific skill (3), pedagogical skill (3), leadership and collaboration skill (2).
