Älta is an expanding area, which means our principal district is growing. In August 2025, we opened a new resource school, and we are now looking for a primary school teacher for after-school care. Take the chance to develop together with us!

Your Role

As a primary school teacher for after-school care, you work with students with various neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF), primarily in grades 1-6. Together with teachers, resource pedagogues, the student health team, and the after-school team, you are responsible for the students' entire school day, including instruction, breaks, lunch, and transitions. In close collaboration, you plan and structure the day to create a cohesive, secure, and developmental school day. You work based on the school's clear focus on instruction, where every part of the day contributes to giving students the prerequisites to succeed and reach their goals.

During the school day, you are a present, active, and supportive pedagogue in the classroom, in smaller teaching groups, and during breaks. After school hours, you have overall responsibility for the after-school activities and are part of the after-school team. Together with the team, you plan, implement, and evaluate activities based on established guidelines. You work on the principle that after-school care is part of the school's instruction, where activities are planned with a clear pedagogical purpose and linked to the school's themes and focus areas. You contribute to creating security, well-being, and good prerequisites for the students' social and academic development, while ensuring activities are adapted to the students' interests, needs, and conditions.

As the sole primary school teacher for after-school care, you have a team leadership function where you are responsible for daily structure, information dissemination, and leading after-school meetings. You also have an overarching task to develop and lead the after-school care operations. You work closely with teachers, special education teachers, special pedagogues, and the after-school team. You meet regularly to collaborate on students, planning, pedagogical development work, and systematic quality work.

Your Experience

For this position, you are required to have:

  • Teacher certification as a primary school teacher for after-school care
  • Experience working as a primary school teacher for after-school care
  • Experience working in a school with lower primary school students
  • Experience working with students in need of extra adjustments and special support
  • Experience driving and participating in the after-school care's development and quality work
  • Good digital competence with experience in using digital pedagogical tools
  • Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

It is meritorious if you also have:

  • Experience working at a resource school or in a special teaching group
  • Experience leading colleagues and the pedagogical work within after-school care
  • Good knowledge of and experience working with children with various neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF).

Is this you?

To succeed in the role, you need to be able to collaborate, communicate, and build good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You support, listen to, and bounce ideas off your colleagues, and you value strong teamwork, especially in a developing operation. You plan, implement, and follow up on instruction, learning environment, and tasks in a clear, inspiring, and structured manner. At the same time, you understand that students have different prerequisites, needs, and ways of absorbing knowledge, which means you adapt your methods and tools to each student.

In your overall responsibility for after-school activities, you are a secure, clear, and responsive leader who motivates and develops both students and colleagues. You have the ability and interest to lead after-school care based on decisions made, as well as to delegate tasks within the after-school team. With a good holistic view, you consider the entire school day and the broader perspective in actions and decisions, always with the best interests of the students and the operation in focus.

To thrive in the role, you need to understand the complexity of the assignment. It requires patience, endurance, and a genuine desire to work with students in need of special support, where some may exhibit challenging behaviors. Furthermore, you thrive in an environment where much is new and under development. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
