The Swedish Arts Council
is looking for
Financial Manager
to the Business Support Unit
We are looking for a skilled and driven Financial Manager with a sense of both the big picture and details, and who thrives in a broad and operationally close role with responsibility for our financial management.
You will be part of the Swedish Arts Council's financial function. In addition to the Financial Manager, this function consists of a case handler and an administrator. The function is part of the Business Support Unit, which develops and manages the agency's administration and finance, administrative law, HR issues, IT operations, office services, registry and archives, as well as procurement. Currently, there are 19 employees in the unit.
In 2026, the agency's appropriation will amount to approximately 2.8 billion SEK, of which approximately 2.7 billion SEK will be distributed as grants.
Responsibilities
As Financial Manager, you have a central role and work in the midst of the operations, providing continuous advisory and service-oriented support to managers and employees. The work is independent; you take own responsibility and can make prioritizations in your own work.
You have overall responsibility for the agency's financial work and will work both strategically and operationally. This means you are responsible for the budget process, budget follow-up, financial analyses, preparation of forecasts, year-end accounts, as well as the financial information in the budget basis and the financial parts of the annual report. In the operational part, you work with ongoing accounting, bookkeeping, reporting, monthly reconciliations, handling of loans and payment flows as part of daily financial management, to the extent required to maintain good internal control. The role includes system responsibility for Unit4 ERP with associated documentation in the financial system.
You will lead, coordinate, and participate in the daily work of the financial function and handle a range of tasks that often run in parallel. In the role, you develop financial processes, ensure the quality of financial information, and drive improvement work that meets the needs of the operations. You also monitor developments and changes within the financial function's area.
We are a small financial function, which means you need to work broadly, collaborate closely, and together with colleagues to solve the function's tasks. You have a supervisory responsibility for the employees in the financial function and report to the Head of the Business Support Unit, who has the overall personnel and work environment responsibility.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have
- current and relevant experience of similar work in a government agency,
- good knowledge of relevant regulations and ordinances in the field,

- good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish,

- are a proficient IT user with good knowledge of Excel and other programs in MS Office365.
You are a candidate with a degree in Business Administration with a focus on accounting or have equivalent knowledge that the Swedish Arts Council considers comparable.
Merits
It is an advantage if you have
- experience of reporting to the EU and Hermes,
- worked in Visma Proceedo and Primula or similar programs,
- experience of personnel management.
Personal qualities
We place great importance on your personal qualities and are looking for you who
- are meticulous, structured, and have analytical ability,
- are confident in your role, self-initiating, and take own initiatives when needed,

- are pedagogical and communicate effectively orally and in writing,
- have good judgment, are receptive while maintaining integrity,
- enjoy working both strategically and operationally,
- can work under pressure, prioritize, and handle several tasks in parallel.
We assume that you are interested in the Swedish Arts Council's mission and follow the government values which are the common values of the entire state administration.
