The subject of Visual Arts at Dalarna University belongs to the Department of Culture and Society and offers courses within the programs for primary school teachers and subject teachers, as well as standalone courses. All courses include elements of visual design, art theory, and subject didactics. The Visual Arts subject also serves as a resource for Dalarna University's other educational programs. With this recruitment, we aim to strengthen competence in visual arts/visual arts didactics.

Your working day as a Lecturer (Adjunkt)

You will primarily work with teaching and collaboration related to the university's teacher education programs. Dalarna University is at the forefront in the development of digital support and pedagogy related to network-based learning, and teaching is conducted both on campus and online. As a lecturer in the subject of Visual Arts, you will primarily teach remotely. An important part of the role is also to work with the continuous development of courses and education as a course coordinator.

Are you the person we are looking for?

For this position, we are looking for you who have competence in photography, digital image processing, and moving image. You have good knowledge of contemporary visual cultures as well as aesthetic learning processes, and furthermore, good knowledge of the materials and techniques within the visual arts subject.

For this employment, the following are additionally required:

• A master's degree in photography, art and visual studies, art history, art pedagogy, or a related aesthetic subject.
• Education in photography and digital image processing.
• At least three years of teaching experience in photography and digital image processing.
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both in speech and writing.

The following are meritorious:

• Experience of teaching at university level.
• Experience of network-based teaching.
• Experience of course coordination at university level.
• Experience of artistic design and own image creation.
• Started doctoral studies.
• University-level pedagogical education.

As we place great importance on pedagogical skill, applicants who do not already have the qualifying university pedagogical education are expected to acquire this competence within two years from the start of employment.

Personal qualities needed to succeed in the role:

• Good administrative skills.
• Good collaboration skills.

The Employment

The employment is a fixed-term position, with a work load of up to 80%, with an effective date of 2026-08-17 to 2027-02-28 (with the possibility of extension). Dalarna University is a higher education institution operating in two locations. The placement for this position is in Falun, and some work will also take place in Borlänge.
