Akalla Grundskola is a municipal F-9 school with two parallel streams, comprising approximately 535 students and 105 employees. The school also includes Järvas regional special education groups.

We largely operate with a three- and two-teacher system in grades 1–9. We have the opportunity to use the large green areas around Järvafältet and Akalla village/farm both during school hours and leisure time. The school is located close to public transport.

We are a multicultural school, and we strive to use language-developing working methods and approaches that benefit our students. We are constantly working to develop our operations to provide our students with the best possible education in a pleasant school environment.

Our school focuses on internationalization work that promotes the development of both students and staff. Since 2024, the school has been accredited for Erasmus and has an ongoing project with a school in Spain that includes an exchange trip.

The school actively works with values-based education, including violence prevention, using the Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) method in grades 4–5 and 7–8.

What we offer

Akalla Grundskola is now looking for a Study and Career Counselor on a 100% basis. Currently, 50% of the time will be spent at our neighboring school, Husbygårdsskolan. Your primary task is to work with students in our upper secondary grades (grades 7–9). Together with the principal, deputy principals, special education teachers, school nurse, and school counselor, you will form the school's student health team. As a study and career counselor, you work with professional guidance conversations. You will work with both individual guidance and group guidance. The role involves close collaboration with educators and other staff. Furthermore, the position includes planning and conducting information sessions in classes and for guardians. To ensure the school's mission, according to the curriculum, regarding study and career guidance as the responsibility of the entire school, close collaboration is also required between the study and career counselor, principal/school leadership, teachers, and other staff. The position also includes administrative work based on your role. You will also be an important participant in the school's Student Health Team. The work involves many contact points with students, staff, and guardians, as well as various functions within education and the labor market.

Your qualifications and experience

The Study and Career Counselor has competence that includes deep and current knowledge of educational pathways and systems, the labor market, working life, and professions.

Theoretical knowledge within career choice and guidance, knowledge and skills in conversation methodology, as well as methods for selection, decision-making, and proven experience, are also required.
