Job Description

Ester Mosesson's Gymnasium is looking for teaching assistants.

We are currently seeking two to three dedicated teaching assistants who wish to help create a safe and developmental school environment for our students. The role involves working closely with teachers and supporting both theoretical and practical instruction. You will serve as a support for groups and individual students who need a secure adult presence both in lessons and in social contexts to fully benefit from their education.

The role may also involve taking responsibility for teaching groups independently.

Your Role:

As a teaching assistant, you are a vital part of the students' learning and development, tailored to their individual needs. You support students and teachers in the classroom, during breaks, and before and after school hours. At the end of the school day, you may also hold reflection sessions with individual students or groups to summarize the day's work.

Together with the work team, consisting of teachers, special needs educators, teaching assistants, and student assistants, you actively work to develop teaching and ensure that the pedagogical mission is fulfilled.

Examples of duties:

  • Create and maintain good relationships with students and handle any conflicts.
  • Contribute to peace, well-being, and security in and outside the classrooms.
  • Help students find their correct place at the start of lessons.
  • Support students in exercises, group work, and individual work during and after lesson time.
  • Ensure that students have access to necessary tools and assistive technology, and support their use.
  • Adapt and prepare classrooms based on students' special needs.
  • Create visual schedules for lessons and specific subjects.
  • Contact guardians as needed.
  • Support students before and during APL (Workplace-based learning).

During school holidays, other tasks may arise depending on the needs of the operation, such as assisting with major cleaning in our production facilities.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have the right competence, experience, and engagement, and who have completed education as a teaching assistant or other relevant education deemed equivalent for the role. Experience in practical vocational education, the restaurant and food industry, and working with upper secondary students is meritorious.

You have documented experience working with individuals with neuropsychiatric functional variations (NPV) and have a good understanding of their needs in both educational and social contexts.

You have good digital competence and use digital tools naturally in your planning.

Personal qualities we value:

  • Low-affective approach: You show respect, consideration, and a professional attitude in interactions with students, guardians, and colleagues. You believe in every individual's potential for development and act based on the equal value of all people.
  • Receptive and communicative: You listen actively to understand others' needs, are open to different perspectives, and create space for dialogue. You are clear in your communication and adapt information to the recipient.
  • Stress-resistant and secure: You maintain calm even in pressured situations, handle conflicts constructively, and distinguish between issues and persons. You make well-founded decisions even under time pressure.
  • Flexible and adaptable: You easily adjust to new conditions and see changes as opportunities. You can quickly adapt both your mindset and working methods to the demands of the situation.
  • Pedagogical and engaged: You gain energy from contributing to others' learning and create conditions for it to happen. You encourage participation and engagement, both in the classroom and in collegial collaboration.

We are looking for you who are a secure, responsible, and positive person who enjoys working with both young people and adults in a school environment.

Other Information

For your interview, you must bring a passport, national ID card, and possibly proof of residence permit if you hold citizenship outside the EU/EEA. As an employer, we need to verify your identity and ensure you have the right to work in Sweden.
