Sverkerskolan is a grades F-9 school located in the heart of Luthagen. The lower school is housed in two beautiful school buildings from the early 1900s, and the operation has gradually been expanded for the higher grades in nearby, renovated premises. The school also has a special education group that currently receives approximately 60 students from the municipality's primary schools. Sverkerskolan has long been a stimulating and developmental environment for both students and staff. There is a strong tradition of pedagogical development and innovation here. The school's staff consists of several different specialist functions, which contributes to broad competence and a diversity of perspectives.

Description of Duties

As a teacher in this position, you are responsible, together with colleagues, for teaching in our special education group for grades 7-9 in mathematics and one additional subject.

You work closely with students who need clarity, structure, and adults who remain steady even when the pace changes quickly. Here you meet young people with lots of energy and strong drives, who sometimes test boundaries and need a secure adult who can meet them with warmth, clarity, and consistency. You have the ability to grasp situations in the moment, redirect, and create focus towards learning.

The teaching is characterized by accessibility, structure, and motivating approaches. You plan, implement, evaluate, and develop teaching based on the curriculum and other regulatory documents in close collaboration with colleagues and student health services. Together, you work purposefully to develop teaching so that it becomes accessible and meaningful for all students, regardless of prerequisites. With the student at the center, you contribute your competence, knowledge, and commitment to create the best possible conditions for learning and development.

This is a role for you who have a strong student focus and a genuine commitment to students in need of special support. You are secure in your leadership, clear in your communication, and have a good ability to adapt teaching to different needs. You are proactive, flexible, and see opportunities in change. You enjoy working closely with others, both colleagues and student health services, and you have experience with – or a strong desire to work with – students who place high demands on their surroundings. You maintain calm when situations change quickly and use your professionalism to create structure, direction, and trust.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a Swedish teaching license with eligibility to teach mathematics and at least one other subject up to grade 9. To succeed in the work, you need to have experience teaching students in special education groups with challenging behaviors. The work requires that you have good oral and written skills in Swedish. You also need to have good knowledge of the school's regulatory documents and the primary school curriculum.

We would like you to have eligibility to teach or experience in teaching Swedish, Swedish as a Second Language, Physical Education and Health, or Natural Sciences. Experience with language-developing approaches and IT skills focused on pedagogical work are considered meritorious.

You have good pedagogical insight and understand how students absorb knowledge from different prerequisites. You adapt your teaching and communication style so that every student has the opportunity to understand and develop. You are proactive and take responsibility for developing teaching. At the same time, you are flexible and easily adapt both planning and working methods to changed needs in the classroom.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.
