Are you a trained special needs teacher and want to make a difference – not just for individual students but for the entire school's way of working? Valsätra School is now looking for a special needs teacher for grades 7–9 who wants to take a central role in our continued development, becoming a key person in creating long-term change. Welcome to a large and multifaceted school with dedicated and competent staff!

Valsätra School is located approximately four kilometers south of the city center and has approximately 930 students. We have classes from preschool class to grade 9. We are a large and vibrant school characterized by diversity, commitment, and a desire for development. At the school, we constantly work to create conditions for every student to succeed in their studies. We are a large, multifaceted school with dedicated staff and a strong will to develop. Here, there is both competence, drive, and genuine commitment to the students' best interests.

The organization is divided such that grades F–3 and 7–9 are at the main school, and grades 4–6 are at Lilla Valsätra.

Description of duties

With us, you will have a strategic and development-oriented assignment where you work at the individual, group, and organizational levels.

You will:

  • be a driving force in the school's development work
  • analyze and develop work regarding problematic absenteeism, low results, and student well-being
  • supervise teachers and work teams in special educational needs matters
  • contribute to creating accessible and inclusive learning environments
  • support work with students in need of assistance, particularly related to ADHD/Autism (NPF) and mental health issues
  • work with mappings, analyses, and measures at a general level
  • be an active part of the school's student health team.

You help us understand why difficulties arise and how we can develop teaching, structure, and organization so that more students succeed.

We are in the middle of work where you will play a key role:

  • reduce problematic absenteeism
  • strengthen work with students with ADHD/Autism (NPF) and mental health issues
  • increase goal fulfillment
  • develop teaching and learning environments
  • strengthen collegial learning through supervision

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in special needs education. You should have experience in school development and supervision.

As a person, you take active initiative and launch interventions that support students' development and learning. You are flexible and adapt your working methods to changing needs, and see opportunities in different situations. You have good collaboration skills and work well together with colleagues, guardians, and other actors, where you listen, communicate, and contribute to solutions. At the same time, you have a holistic view and look to the best interests of the operation by understanding your role in a larger context and making thoughtful decisions from a long-term perspective.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.

In your application, you must state your citizenship. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must also be able to prove that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the obligation to have a work permit. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, which is required according to the Aliens Ordinance.

Employment with Uppsala Municipality may involve being placed on the war establishment (crisis staffing).

Salary form: Monthly salary.
Employment type: Permanent employment.
Duration: Permanent. Start date: According to agreement.
