Department of Animal Biosciences
We are looking for you who have a Swedish veterinary license and are genuinely interested in food safety.
About the job
The position is primarily a teaching position with responsibility for the education of veterinary students in food safety. This includes, among other things, meat inspection and food control, microbiological and toxicological risks in food, product and process knowledge, as well as food legislation.
You will play a central role in several parts of the education, including course leadership, lectures, practical exercises in meat control, laboratory supervision, and teaching in smaller groups. The practical teaching in meat control is partly conducted at external facilities, which involves travel with overnight stays.
The duties also include supervising bachelor's and master's theses, as well as examining laboratory reports and written exams.
Research
In addition to teaching duties, there is an opportunity for research. Research is primarily conducted during periods when you do not have scheduled teaching or other teaching-related commitments. For those who wish to develop their own research line, it is expected that external funding is sought to finance research operations and project costs. There are also good opportunities to participate in and contribute to ongoing research projects at the department.
You will work in close collaboration with colleagues in both education and research in an stimulating and supportive work environment.
Your background
To be eligible to apply for the position, you must have a Swedish veterinary license or be eligible to obtain one. You should have a genuine interest in teaching and a desire to contribute to students' learning and development. Experience in teaching, university work, or university administration, as well as veterinary work in food control, is meritorious. A European specialist degree in a relevant subject area is also meritorious.
We place great emphasis on personal qualities such as commitment, creativity, responsibility, independence, as well as good initiative and organizational skills. You will receive support from experienced colleagues and work in a small team with close collaboration in daily work. Therefore, it is important that you have good communication skills and enjoy collaborating.
For this position, you must master Swedish in speech and writing and have good knowledge of English.
