At Danmarks School, you will have the opportunity to work in a small and secure environment where every employee makes a difference. We have a good collaborative climate, dedicated colleagues, and an organization that promotes close cooperation between school and after-school care. Here, you will have the opportunity to develop together with others in an environment where student safety, learning, and relationships are the focus.

Danmarks School is a small and secure F–5 school (grades 1–5) with approximately 140 students, located just outside the city center of Uppsala. By bus, it takes only about 10 minutes from the central station to the school.

At Danmarks School, we actively work for an inclusive learning environment where all students are given the opportunity to succeed and develop. This permeates both our physical learning environments and the pedagogy we use in our operations. The workplace is characterized by a strong sense of community and a collegium where we support each other and work together for the best interests of the students.

The school is organized into two work teams – a teacher team and an after-school care team – where collaboration between the professions is a natural part of the operation. The after-school care is an important part of the students' entire school day, and we work together to create safety, learning, and development for all students.

Danmarks School is also a partner school and regularly receives teacher students from teacher education programs, which contributes to a developing and reflective work environment.

Description of duties

We are looking for a music teacher (30%) who will also work at our after-school care center.

As a teacher in this position, you will teach music for 30% of your time. You will have the opportunity to make a difference for our students by contributing your competence, knowledge, and engagement to help the school reach its goals with the student at the center. You will plan, implement, evaluate, and develop the pedagogical work according to the curriculum and other regulatory documents for our students in grades 1-5.

The position also involves working together with qualified colleagues at our after-school care center and collaborating with class teachers regarding the students' school day. Together, we work to ensure meaningful content for the students' entire school day. This also includes conducting pedagogical activities both indoors and outdoors. It is important that you can see and understand the needs of individual students but also that you can take responsibility for the whole.

During school hours, in addition to teaching music, you will serve as a support to teaching teachers, for example by dividing classes or supporting students in the classroom. Planning time will be available based on needs and the schedule.

We strive for collegial learning where you, in close collaboration with your colleagues, develop the operation. Together, you work to ensure that all students thrive and develop based on their individual prerequisites.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a Swedish teaching license or are awaiting licensure for the intended grade levels and subjects. The position requires good knowledge of the school's regulatory documents as well as the primary school curriculum. Good oral and written skills in Swedish are a prerequisite for the position.

Experience with language-developing working methods is meritorious. Knowledge and experience with NPF (Neurodevelopmental Disorders such as ADHD and Autism) is desirable. A license for work in after-school care is also meritorious for the position.

In your role, you take initiative and start activities that yield good results. You adapt easily to changed circumstances and can quickly change your perspective and approach. As a person, you are outgoing and social. You easily establish contact with students, guardians, and colleagues. In your work, you understand that students have different prerequisites for absorbing knowledge. In your teaching, you therefore adapt the way you convey your message to the recipient.
