Do you have a strong drive to teach and develop students? Do you see music as a pedagogical tool where didactics, adaptation, and follow-up are central parts? Are you good at creating teaching that engages all students - regardless of prior experience? Then we might be looking for you!

Nannaskolan is a municipal junior high school in central Uppsala with a clear aesthetic profile. Here, a strong academic mission is combined with creative forms of expression such as music, performing arts, and creative work. The school is characterized by an inclusive and collaborative culture where relationships, security, and high expectations are central parts of everyday life.

The school is housed in a beautiful building designed by Gunnar Leche from the 1940s, where the character of the architecture has been preserved while the premises have been adapted for a modern teaching environment. The physical environment contributes to a pleasant and inspiring workplace for both students and staff.

An important part of the school's whole is Nanna Bistro - the school's own restaurant where food is cooked from scratch. The restaurant maintains very high quality, with three stars and several national awards, and offers an environment inspired by a modern bistro with a focus on well-being, sustainability, and good meals.

As an employee at Nannaskolan, you become part of a dedicated collegium that works together to create good conditions for the students' development - both academically and socially. Collaboration between teachers, student health services, and other staff is a natural part of the work and contributes to a holistic view of the students' needs and learning.

The subject of music has a clear and natural place in the school's operations and is part of the aesthetic whole, where concerts and performances repeatedly contribute to the school's shared culture. The school has good access to instruments, equipment, and purposeful premises, which creates good conditions for teaching and aesthetic activities. There are also established collaborations with the Cultural School and Uppsala Esthetic Upper Secondary School, which provide additional opportunities for development, resource sharing, and inspiration.

Working hours are scheduled during the day on weekdays according to the timetable, with some variation in connection with school-wide activities. The work is primarily location-bound as teaching and collaboration are central parts of the assignment.

Nannaskolan offers a professional and development-oriented work environment where you, as a teacher, are given the opportunity to contribute, influence, and grow in your role.

Description of duties

As a music teacher at Nannaskolan, you have overall responsibility for the students' learning and development in the subject, while also being an active part of the school's shared mission. You plan, implement, and follow up on teaching based on steering documents with a focus on progression, participation, and goal achievement.

In teaching, you create conditions for students to develop their musical skills through singing, playing, and creative work. Just as important as the musical content is your ability to meet students where they are, build relationships, and monitor their knowledge development over time. You work structured and consciously to make learning visible and provide students with support in both academic and personal development.

You will work in close collaboration with the school's music teachers and are expected to share joint responsibility for the development, planning, and implementation of the music subject together with them. The collaboration is a central part of the assignment and means that you jointly contribute to cohesive and high-quality teaching as well as the school's aesthetic profile, for example through concerts and performances.

The assignment also includes participating in the school's collegial work, collaboration in work teams, and contributing to the overall development and safety work of the school.

The position comprises approximately 60% teaching in music. The remainder of the position consists of teaching in another subject or assignment, with the aim of creating a full-time position and contributing to the school's combined competence and operations.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a teacher's license with eligibility to teach music and additional subjects in grades 7-9. To succeed in the work, you need to have good subject competence in music and a clear pedagogical ability to plan, implement, and follow up on teaching based on steering documents.

You easily adapt your teaching and working methods based on students' different needs and prerequisites. You see opportunities in changes, for example in new teaching methods or musical expressions, and contribute to a flexible and inspiring learning environment. At the same time, you are outgoing and social in your professional role, where you build trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You create engagement, promote collaboration, and contribute to a positive and inclusive teaching environment.
