Fredrika Bremerskolan is a lower and middle school located in the heart of Nyby in Uppsala. It is an F-5 school (preschool class to grade 5) as well as an after-school center with approximately 310 students in a safe and manageable environment. The school offers a homely learning environment close to nature and outdoor areas that support student development. As a proud partner school to the teacher training college, we regularly host student teachers and actively work with pedagogical development and collegial learning. We also work with IBIS (Inclusive Behavioral Support in Schools) together with Uppsala University.

Work with us is characterized by close relationships and good cooperation between the school and the after-school center, where the small scale contributes to safety and overview. The school has a teacher density at or above average, which provides good conditions for giving students individual support and high-quality teaching. Safety and a conducive study environment are central cornerstones of our operations, as reflected in the school's survey results. The after-school center complements the school day with care and meaningful activities from early morning until late afternoon, creating a whole that strengthens students' social and emotional development.

Description of Duties

As a teacher in our special education group, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on teaching for a smaller group of students who need extensive support. The teaching is based on the students' individual prerequisites and is continuously adapted to create the best possible learning and development – academically, socially, and emotionally.

The duties include:

• Plan and conduct differentiated and structured teaching in several subjects, focusing on students' individual needs.
• Create a safe, predictable, and accessible learning environment that promotes study environment and motivation.
• Work with clarifying pedagogy and alternative tools to support students' learning and participation.
• Collaborate closely with special needs educators, student health services, guardians, and other staff regarding students' development.
• Contribute to developing functioning routines, strategies, and adaptations for students with complex needs.
• Document, follow up, and analyze students' knowledge development and goal fulfillment.
• Participate actively in the work team's joint work and in the school's collegial learning.
• Act as a mentor if needed and be responsible for the overall picture of the student's school day.

The role requires flexibility, relationship-building skills, and a solution-focused approach. You work closely with the students throughout the school day and play an important role in creating structure, safety, and hope for the future. This is a fixed-term position during the Autumn Term 2026 (HT26).

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a certified teacher with the eligibility to teach mathematics, Swedish, English, and subjects such as Social Studies/Natural Sciences. It is meritorious to have special needs pedagogical competence and previous experience working with students in need of special support in a special education group.

In your work, you have the courage to act according to your own convictions. You are stable, and in stressful situations, you remain calm. You maintain a realistic perspective on different situations and focus on the right things. As a person, you are outgoing and socially active in your work. You find it easy to establish contact with students, guardians, as well as colleagues.

In your communication, you are clear and ensure that your message gets through. You ensure that expectations are clear for all parties involved, and remind and follow up when necessary. You plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.

In your application, you must state your citizenship. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, as required by the Aliens Ordinance.

Employment with Uppsala Municipality may involve being placed for war service (crisis management).
