As a study and career counselor with us, you support individuals who are far from the labor market in finding the right path forward. You help them discover education that strengthens their ability to lead an independent life and achieve sustainable employment. We look forward to your application!

At the Education and Job Center in Uppsala, approximately 130 people work with adult education, ranging from theoretical to practical courses, from Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) to upper secondary level. Komvux adapted education is part of Komvux, with around 75 students studying at adapted basic and upper secondary levels.

Description of duties

The position is divided into two assignments, both located at UJC Boländerna.

50% as a study and career counselor at Komvux adapted education. The work involves counseling sessions with students in adapted Komvux, both individually and in groups. The counselor also has main responsibility for our outreach activities, including contact with day activities, housing facilities, and guardians.

50% of the position is as a study and career counselor in the three-year project SAMSA - Collaboration for Studies and Work. The project targets young adults with mild intellectual disabilities, with the goal that they establish themselves in the labor market through education and practice.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree from the study and career counseling program. To succeed in the work, you need experience in communicating verbally and in writing.

We would appreciate it if you have experience working with the target group for Komvux adapted education, i.e., individuals with intellectual disabilities. Experience in contact with the labor market, authorities, and organizations is considered an advantage.

You are proactive, team-oriented, and have a strong ability to build relationships in your work as a study and career counselor. You take initiative to create structure and drive counseling processes forward, so that students receive the support they need in their choices. You collaborate well with colleagues, teachers, and external actors, and meet others with sensitivity and flexibility. At the same time, you easily build and maintain trusting relationships with students, which contributes to good treatment and a secure counseling situation.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.
