Teacher for Vallonskolan in Östhammar
Approximately 1,800 people commute daily to the workplace of Östhammar Municipality to deliver welfare and development, ensuring our local community remains safe and attractive. We do this together, with engagement, responsibility, and openness. We are proud of that.
We are looking for an additional colleague for Vallonskolan in Östhammar Municipality, located in the Gimo school area. Gimo school area is a grades 4–9 school situated next to forests and nature, as well as an all-weather running track and swimming hall. Vreta- and Vallonskolan, along with the adapted primary school in Östhammar Municipality, is a creative and developmental workplace where we offer students an enriching education from grades F–9.
In total, there are approximately 450 students across the two school forms of Vreta- and Vallonskolan: the regular primary school and the adapted primary school. In these operations, we have common goals and approaches, with work based on a shared annual calendar linked to the Swedish curriculum Lgr22 and Lgra22. Teaching is grounded in scientific basis and proven experience. Supported by research, clear and relational leadership is crucial for all students' learning, knowledge development, inclusion, and well-being.
In our operations, we work with promoting and preventive student health efforts, and we have high expectations of both students and colleagues. We are looking for you who enable learning and development for all students. You will be part of one of the operation's work teams, where you will meet engaged and positive colleagues. Your ability to lead students' knowledge development and to collaborate with colleagues is central.
Responsibilities
When working as a teacher and mentor, you become part of a cohesive work team, a secure platform in your daily life. The position involves teaching for grades 4–6 and mentorship for grade 4. We plan and develop the operations together, working to challenge and support each student so they have good conditions to meet future challenges and opportunities.
You will be part of a work team where you will meet engaged and positive colleagues. Your ability to lead students' knowledge development and to collaborate with colleagues is central. You will plan, implement, and evaluate teaching together with your colleagues. Additionally, you will strive to challenge and support each student to create the best possible conditions for future challenges and opportunities.
Qualifications
You are a certified teacher for the lower secondary level (grades 4–6) with eligibility to teach all subjects in the primary school, except for practical-esthetic subjects. Alternatively, you have a pedagogical background with experience from teaching and mentorship in primary school.
You handle the Swedish language in speech and writing and create good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You have good IT skills and know how to apply and use them in teaching for students' learning and development.
Merits:
- Experience teaching students in the lower secondary level in primary school or adapted primary school.
- Experience in responsibility for planning, implementation, analysis, and assessment (both formative and summative).
- Experience leading systematic teaching development, for example, in a previous role as a lead teacher, as well as mentoring newly hired teachers.
- Experience collaborating with student health services for promoting and preventive student health work.
- Knowledge of systems such as Office 365, Teams, and Unikum, as well as experience working with SymWriter.
