Do you want to join us and participate in the fight against economic crime? We are looking for you who want to contribute to the development of the Swedish Economic Crime Authority (Ekobrottsmyndigheten) in the role of Deputy Legal Director.
Workplace
The Legal Unit is responsible for ensuring quality, equality, and legal certainty in the Authority's legal operations. The unit employs practicing lawyers and has an archivist and registrar function. The Authority's Data Protection Officer is also located within this unit.
The unit actively works on issues within the legislative process, monitors legal developments, and provides the Authority with qualified legal support. The unit is responsible for responding to official requests and providing opinions, as well as handling matters concerning confidentiality and data protection. The unit also drafts and reviews steering documents and participates in training and other competence-enhancing initiatives within the Authority. The unit collaborates closely with other authorities with adjacent mandates. The Legal Unit currently consists of approximately 14 people.
Responsibilities
As Deputy Legal Director, you act as the Legal Director's deputy and are a central part of the unit's leadership. The role involves actively participating in leading and developing the operations. You hold personnel responsibility to the extent agreed upon with the Legal Director. You also represent the Legal Director at meetings and assist in strategic considerations, analysis, and prioritizations that shape the unit's long-term direction. In addition, you perform casework duties within the unit's area of responsibility to some extent.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- a law degree
- experience in qualified legal work from government operations
- experience in collaborating within and outside your own organization
- managerial and leadership experience from the public sector, with a good ability to lead, develop, and motivate qualified employees
It is an advantage if you additionally have:
- experience working at a strategic level in the judicial system
- experience working in the Government Offices (Regeringskansliet)
- experience as a district court judge (tingsmeritering)
About You
To be successful in this role, you should have an interest in familiarizing yourself with the Authority's operations. You have the ability to identify needs for changes in legislation within the Authority's area of responsibility.
We are looking for someone who can work in a structured and systematic manner and inspire employees to develop and take responsibility. You have a proactive leadership style that coaches and communicates a clear vision to your employees. Being innovative and receptive are other important qualities.
You are a stable person with a pragmatic and non-hierarchical approach, good judgment, and high integrity. You have the ability and experience to create and develop collaborations with others, both internally and externally.
Your work is goal-oriented from a business and employer perspective, and you are prepared to make difficult decisions and drive change in a complex organization. You have very strong analytical skills and act and prioritize based on the needs of the entire operation.

As a manager at the Swedish Economic Crime Authority, you are expected to lead according to the Authority's leadership criteria and work in accordance with the Authority's employee policy, the EBM model.
