About the workplace

Surteskolan needs a substitute class teacher for grade 4 for the end of the spring term 2025 as well as the academic year 2026/2027.

Surteskolan is a preschool to grade 6 school located just north of Gothenburg. The school is beautifully situated on a hill surrounded by forest and has approximately 220 students. What distinguishes Surteskolan is our small classes of 17–23 students each, divided into two work groups, lower and middle school, but collaborating across the entire preschool to grade 6 spectrum. We are a small school with close-knit relationships. Teaching staff, student health services, administration, cleaning, and catering are in constant dialogue to find good solutions for our students.

Surteskolan is close enough to Gothenburg to be counted in Zone A with Västtrafik. The commuter train takes you from Central Station to Surte in 10 minutes.

Responsibilities

We are looking for someone with a strong commitment to teaching and a particular ability to quickly build trusting relationships. You will take on the responsibility of leading a group that needs to find security and a calm study environment to achieve good results by the end of grade 6.

Grade 5 consists of 21 students in one class. You will substitute for a teacher who goes on parental leave in May 2026. The assignment involves being the mentor for the class independently, but you have support from a resource teacher in the class as well as the student health team and a social pedagogue with a security-building role in the middle school section.

Qualifications

We are looking for a certified teacher. We are also interested in recent graduates or those who have started a teacher education program. Other education in leadership and pedagogy can be meritorious.

You will teach Social Studies (SO), English, and Swedish. Other subjects may be added.

The assignment requires a strong ability to quickly create good relationships with the students as well as clear leadership that creates security and structure.

You have good knowledge of national curricula and create secure relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. With a positive approach, you base your work on the student's ability to develop socially and academically and collaborate closely with other educators at the school.

You have clear communication, understand the importance of being a team player, and contribute with a positive spirit. You are flexible, proactive, and have a solution-oriented operational focus with the student's development and best interests in focus.

In addition to qualifications, great weight will be placed on reference checks.
