What we offer

Tösse School is a preschool class to grade 6 school (F-6) with approximately 120 students, located about 10 km from the town center of Åmål. The school operates in newly renovated and partially new buildings that create excellent conditions for educational activities. The schoolyard is large and invites play and creativity with nature close at hand. As staff at Tösse School, you will be part of an engaged team working together for the best interests of the students.

Within the school's catchment area, there is a residential care home (HVB-hem). We are responsible for teaching both on-site at the residential home and for integrating students from the residential home into the regular activities at Tösse School. The positions we are currently recruiting for are linked to this assignment and involve working with students both at the residential home and on-site at Tösse School.

Your role

As a student assistant, your task is to create a safe and inspiring learning environment where all students feel seen and respected. You work to ensure that every student develops their full potential by supporting their path towards achieving educational goals and their development into democratic citizens. You build positive and sustainable relationships by creating a safe and open atmosphere where students feel respected and heard. Through active listening, providing feedback, and being a clear adult role model, you contribute to strengthening students' self-esteem and their ability to collaborate and communicate with each other.

You promote goal achievement and development for all students by ensuring that the teacher's instruction is clarified and adapted to students' different needs and prerequisites, so they receive the help and support they need to reach the knowledge goals specified in the curriculum. You are an active part of preventing and handling conflicts and problems inside and outside the classroom by encouraging cooperation, empathy, and responsibility. You support students in developing their social skills and ability to handle both successes and setbacks in a constructive manner.

You collaborate with colleagues to create a coherent thread in the teaching. You communicate regularly with the residential home and guardians, where relevant, to ensure that students' needs are considered and that there is a common understanding of how students' learning can be promoted both in and outside of school.

Work during leisure time activities (fritids) may also be relevant for these positions.

Who you are

As a student assistant with a role linked to students at the residential home, you work to create a positive and meaningful school experience. We are looking for you who are a good relationship builder with great patience and flexibility. To meet the students' needs, you must be able to make adjustments and handle unexpected situations. In the classroom, you offer support in understanding the context and clarifying the teacher's instruction with clear structure, so everyone knows what is expected of them. You are confident in your role in student-centered work and are engaged. As a colleague, you collaborate with staff, school leadership, student welfare services, and personnel at the residential home for the benefit of all students.

In Åmål Municipality, we are working on a major development project regarding language and knowledge-enhancing approaches that will permeate our competence development during the upcoming school year. All educators participate in the project, and we would like you, if hired, to have a strong interest in working with language and competence-enhancing approaches.

Formal competence requirements

- Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing

- The employment assumes that you have a Category B driver's license

- Digital identification with BankID

Meritorious qualifications

Experience from working as a student assistant

- MI (Medical/Psychological intervention or similar competence, context-dependent)

The employment

Fixed-term employment 100% from 2026-08-12 to 2026-12-18 with a possible option for extension. Start date 2026-08-12. The student assistant positions are currently located at Tösse School within the Culture and Education Administration, which is organized directly under the Culture and Education Committee. The direct supervisor is Principal Lena Andrén-Persson.

The positions will be filled subject to necessary decisions being made.
