The Unit for Health and Civil Society at the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs comprises approximately 30 employees and works with policy areas that promote good living conditions in Sweden. The unit is responsible for issues concerning public health, mental health and psychiatry, dental care, alcohol, drugs, tobacco, doping, health protection and disease control, civil society, sports, religious communities, and youth issues. The unit is also responsible for the oversight of the Public Health Agency of Sweden, the Swedish Council for Health Technology Assessment and Assessment of Social Services (SBU), and the Swedish Agency for Youth and Civil Society. The unit is characterized by a spirit of cooperation and a development-oriented approach.

The tasks are varied and include driving and developing issues within the public health sector, which includes government assignments and participation in legislative work, such as being an expert in inquiries, preparing reports and other materials, as well as proposition and ordinance work. You will also prepare and analyze materials for the government's positions on issues concerning public health and participate in EU cooperation and international cooperation on public health issues. Furthermore, you will participate in and initiate unit- and ministry-wide cooperation as well as collaboration and contacts with external actors within the public health field. In the role, you will also contribute to work within the framework of the government's oversight of agencies.

Your background

You have a completed academic education that is relevant for the position. A law degree is meritorious. You have recent experience of working in state, regional, or municipal operations, or alternatively in international organizations.

It is meritorious if you have:

• experience of working in the Government Offices (Regeringskansliet)
• experience of steering issues as well as development and change work
• experience of legislative work or regulatory work
• experience of working in a politically directed operation and understanding of the role and function of the Government Offices

You have very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

It is also meritorious if you have knowledge of:

• Swedish public health policy
• the work of the EU and international organizations
• one or more of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs' areas of responsibility

The employment is a permanent position starting with a six-month probationary period. Location: Stockholm. Start date: ASAP or as agreed.
