Job Description
As a University Lecturer, your main task is teaching. Teaching also includes supervision, examination, course evaluation, and course development. Collaboration is an integrated part of the university's research and education mission, and as a University Lecturer, you will actively contribute to the university's development work. The duties also include general administration and competence development, as well as participation in daily operations, in the subject's and department's work.
The incumbent shall work within the artistic field of Western art music and opera in relation to music theory components (theory, ear training, prima vista) within the teaching at the Chamber Music Programme, the Master's Programme in Western Art Music and Opera (specializations Chamber Music/Chamber Opera), and current standalone courses. You are expected to conduct and lead teaching, and some minor administrative tasks may be included.
Eligibility Requirements
We are looking for you who have demonstrated pedagogical skill and hold a Master's degree in a relevant subject or equivalent competence.
The pedagogical skill must be documented in such a way that the quality of previous work can be assessed.
To be employed as a teacher at MDU, university pedagogical education or equivalent knowledge is required. Those employed but lacking university pedagogical education will be offered to undergo such training within two and a half years of employment. The university pedagogical education at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of study.
The following eligibility requirements apply for this position, in addition to those established in the Employment Regulations at MDU. You have good proficiency in Swedish.
Assessment Criteria
The assessment criteria shall include the degree of skill required for the position, as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to perform the duties well.
In addition to the assessment criteria established in the Employment Regulations at MDU, special weight will be given to the following for this position. Previous teaching in music theory subjects at a university college of music or equivalent is meritorious. Good proficiency in English is also meritorious.
In a combined assessment of suitability, personal qualities are also taken into account. All employees at MDU are expected to collaborate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for the operations and their own tasks, and contribute to a good working environment.
Importance is placed on good collaboration skills and flexible thinking.
