About Birgittaskolan
All students have the right to a school that gives them the opportunity to develop based on their own prerequisites. SPSM runs schools on behalf of the state. We offer students a learning environment that provides opportunities for participation, learning, and development. We offer meaningful, stimulating, and important pedagogical work at our schools.
Birgittaskolan in Örebro provides bilingual education in a sign language environment for students from preschool class through grade 10. Our students receive instruction in both Swedish Sign Language and written Swedish. We offer housing for students who cannot commute to school daily.
Birgittaskolan is a state-run special school for students who are deaf or have a hearing impairment. The school is located in Örebro and receives students from the counties of Dalarna, Södermanland, Värmland, Västmanland, Örebro, and Östergötland.
We offer our students an environment that enables participation and development. Everyone can participate in social interaction, feel a sense of belonging, and develop as individuals in a bilingual education within a sign language environment.
At Birgittaskolan, we have excellent access to various professions in our student health team and to digital learning tools in a well-equipped IT environment.
We are approximately 100 employees working at the school or in our student residences.
Job Responsibilities
We are now looking for a math teacher at 50% for Birgittaskolan’s lower secondary school (grades 7-9).
You must have a teaching license that qualifies you to teach mathematics at the lower secondary level.
You are responsible for planning, individualizing, and conducting high-quality teaching. Often, several staff members are in the classroom simultaneously. You should therefore be able to collaborate easily with any student assistants and teachers associated with the class.
We are looking for conscious and challenging teachers who, through openness, innovation, and a holistic view, nurture each student's abilities and competencies to meet a changing world. Changing work methods and forms with the help of IT technology is a prerequisite. It is a given that you have an interest in school development and possess good collaborative skills.
The position is a temporary assignment (vicariate) at 50%.
Qualifications and Merits
- You must have a teaching license that qualifies you to teach mathematics at the lower secondary level.
- A prerequisite for working with us is that you know Swedish Sign Language, as our sign language environment is very important.
- You should be proficient in the IT programs commonly used in schools.
- Experience working with students with Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NPF) is meritorious.
- Personal suitability is given great weight.
The school also has student housing for some students, which places requirements on collaboration with both residential staff and other professional groups connected to the student's school day.
We have interactive whiteboards in all classrooms, so experience and knowledge in handling such aids is meritorious.

Employment Terms
Type of Employment: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer.
An extract from the criminal record register must be presented prior to employment.
