About the School

Transtenskolan is a lower secondary school (grades 7–9) located in central Hallsberg. We all work in close relation to our students to challenge, support, and coach them in their development. The school atmosphere is family-like, with high levels of well-being and security.

Transtenskolan is undergoing extensive change work where we strive to further improve our results through science and proven experience. This means you need to be receptive, flexible, and curious about challenges. The school is organized into four work teams, including special education needs coordinators, special needs teachers, and student health services. The school's core value is: We shall prepare our students as best as possible for their upcoming time in upper secondary school.

We are looking for a teacher in Natural Sciences (NO) for grades 7–9.

Not just any teacher, but someone who can navigate between atoms, photosynthesis, and the students' eternal question: “Will this be on the test?”

Your daily routine may include the following situations

• A student asks what an atom is.
• Another student asks if you can blow something up with that.
• A third student wonders why you need to know the periodic table when you have Google.
• And somewhere in the classroom, you hear the question:
• “Can we do an experiment today?”

And there you stand.

Calm. Scientific. Like a sturdy lab bench in a sea of curiosity.

You should be able to

• explain why water is not the same thing as hydrogen and oxygen separately
• handle students who think all experiments should involve fire
• read lab reports where the conclusion is sometimes:

“It went wrong, but it was fun.”

Bonus points if you:

• can say “Put on your safety goggles” at least 15 times per lesson
• do not get nervous when someone asks if you can test a little more of that chemical
