Are you a creative and dedicated art teacher who wants to work with our youth at one of Örebro's most popular schools? Then this might be the job for you!
About the Position
Welcome to Olaus Petriskolan 7-9! We are currently offering the opportunity to work with us as an art teacher. We are looking for an engaged and flexible teacher who wants to work at a large and attractive secondary school in the city center. As a secondary school teacher, you will teach adolescents in their early teens, and mentoring a class in year 7 is part of the role. Building relationships with students is a crucial part of the pedagogical work, aimed at establishing trust and a safe environment both inside and outside the classroom.
Together with another experienced art teacher, you will conduct art education for the school's students. You will teach independently but maintain very close collaboration in your work. You will be part of a well-functioning team with solid experience that collaborates and supports each other every day. You are expected to contribute to the team's development by actively participating in conferences and the group's competence development.
Examples of duties:
- Teaching art.
- Planning, implementing, and evaluating pedagogical teaching in collaboration with other staff.
- Supporting students' social development.
- Mentoring a class.
- Working cross-curricularly with others.
- Collaborating with other educators to drive school development for increased goal fulfillment.
About the Workplace
Olaus Petriskolan is a comprehensive school (grades F-9) located centrally in Örebro. Grades F-6 are located in the north, and grades 7-9 are in the city center near Oskarsparken. The secondary school has approximately 500 students distributed across 6 work teams. The work teams are responsible for clearly defined student groups. We offer three unique profiles: culture, sports and health, and maker space. In close collaboration with the Municipal School of Music and Drama, we work across subject boundaries, allowing art, music, and theater to contribute to all students' learning when working on cross-curricular themes.
Since the 2015/2016 academic year, Olaus Petriskolan has been a Practice School, a collaboration with the teacher education program at Örebro University.

Within the Preschool and Primary School Administration, approximately 4,530 employees work. We meet young people in Örebro from their first day in preschool to their last day in primary school.
We are jointly responsible for contributing to equal opportunities for young people in Örebro and laying the foundation for learning that extends throughout life. With trust and courage, we build our preschools and schools together. We take on the challenges of the future for the best of every child.
Qualifications
As an art teacher, it is important that you have good collaboration skills, where you listen and communicate, and contribute to a calm and safe school environment. You should also have knowledge of child development and learning, as well as the ability to adapt teaching based on the group and individual students' needs and prerequisites. You also possess a creative ability that you utilize in your teaching.
We want you to be responsible, orderly, have good collaboration skills, and be clear in your communication with students, guardians, and colleagues. You must have good proficiency in spoken and written Swedish, as the job requires strong written documentation skills and communication with guardians and students. You should be engaged in both teaching and the mentoring role, and work independently. Finally, you should find it easy to collaborate with educators, student health services, and principals.
