The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry unit is the region's specialist resource for children and young people with moderate to severe mental health issues, as well as neuropsychiatric disabilities. Together with other actors within the region, we are tasked with providing equitable, needs-based, and cost-effective care for children, young people, and their families. Collaboration with families and other stakeholders, such as schools and social services, is a major and important part of our work.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is a large workplace with approximately 200 employees from various professional backgrounds. We work in interdisciplinary teams and share responsibility for the patients belonging to the team. The patient is always at the center of our focus.

The Entrance Clinic handles acute visits and performs urgent assessments of patients referred via emergency referral or by calling the emergency hotline. We work during daytime hours, Monday to Friday. We conduct new patient visits and make decisions regarding the level of care and further interventions. The clinic also houses the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry advisory service.

Your Responsibilities

As a counselor (social worker/health care counselor), you are a vital part of the work at Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. You will meet children and young people with depression, anxiety issues, and neuropsychiatric disabilities, as well as their parents/guardians, both individually and as part of the team. Additional issues such as self-harm behavior, sleep difficulties, risky substance use, and psychosocial problems are also common.

You will assess psychiatric needs in children and young people, which may also involve diagnosis in consultation with other professions. You will conduct suicide risk assessments and safety planning during acute visits, and you are also responsible for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry telephone advisory service and emergency hotline.

We work interprofessionally with nurses, counselors, psychologists, and doctors. As a new employee at Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, you will receive an adapted individual introduction and good support from your colleagues.

Your Skills and Competencies

We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker (socionom) and/or a licensed health care counselor.

You are an empathetic person with good judgment, skilled at weighing together complex information and making various considerations in decision-making based on the needs of the operation. Since we work interprofessionally at the workplace, it is important that you enjoy collaborating and can build good and trusting relationships with others. You plan, organize, and prioritize your work well and thrive when working towards clear goals. In times of change, you are good at adapting and adjusting to new conditions.

Personal suitability is highly valued. Since the role may involve travel, you must have a valid Category B driver's license!

Merits include having completed CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) Step 1, as well as experience from psychiatry and social work with children and young people.
