Job Responsibilities

As a counselor at Habiliteringscentrum, you will work within the children's team. You will meet with children and their parents to investigate, assess, and map the patient's need for habilitation services, together with the other professions in the team. You will provide support conversations to the patient and their network, inform about societal support, assist with contact with authorities, and collaborate with neighboring healthcare providers and other authorities. In your role as a counselor, it is common to provide training, consultation, and information to relatives and various staff groups.

The work takes place in close and good collaboration with other colleagues in the team, and together you will develop proposals for measures to facilitate the patient's living conditions. There are two additional counselors working in the adult team at the workplace, whom you can consult and exchange knowledge with.

About the Workplace

Habiliteringscentrum is a specialist operation with approximately 150 employees distributed across our habilitation units in Fagersta, Köping, and Västerås. The operation provides support, advice, and treatment to people with disabilities such as autism, intellectual disability, and certain motor disabilities. One of our county-wide operations, the Vision Unit, provides services to people with severe visual impairment or blindness. Here you will also find the Interpreter Unit, which coordinates sign and written interpretation for people with deafness or hearing impairment.

At our Habilitation unit in Fagersta, you will work with patients within all diagnostic areas, thereby gaining broad knowledge and experience. There are 14 experienced employees on the unit with a high level of patient engagement.

As a new employee, you will be part of an induction program and have access to a mentor, all to ensure you feel secure in your profession. You will also participate in professional meetings together with your counselor colleagues within the operation. In addition, you will receive clinical supervision based on your and the operation's needs.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a completed social work degree or are a licensed health and social care counselor. We view it as positive if you have experience within health and social care and/or other work with people with disabilities. We would appreciate it if you have previously led group activities and conducted training, as well as having good knowledge within the social field. It is important that you can express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. A B-class driver's license is a requirement as travel occurs in the position.

We see that you are a secure, stable person with good self-insight. You collaborate well with others and can also structure your own work in a good and organized manner. It is important that you are comfortable meeting people in crisis and grief. In the meeting with the patient, you should have a strong patient focus and the ability to see people's capabilities. You are clear in your communication and engaged in the individual meeting as well as in the larger group.
