Here, you will have the opportunity to support people in need of assistance and contribute to making their daily lives run more smoothly. You will become part of a cohesive work group with extensive experience, where security, competence, and collegial support are always close at hand. Together, we work to strengthen individual rights, create better coordination of services, and contribute to a society where more people have the opportunity to live independent lives. We are now looking for you who want to work with our clients in the City of Västerås.
Your responsibilities
As a Personal Representative, you work closely with clients with mental disabilities to map needs and wishes, plan interventions, and follow up to ensure daily life functions better. You act as a support in contact with the municipality, region, healthcare, and other authorities, helping to coordinate care, support, and service measures based on individual needs. You contribute to creating structure and security, while also informing about rights, obligations, and opportunities – often in areas such as finance, health, and employment.
The assignment also involves looking at the bigger picture. As a Personal Representative, you contribute to ensuring the client's rights are met and that society's resources become more accessible. You also play an important role in highlighting deficiencies and system errors, thereby improving the living conditions for the target group in the long term. The work is always based on voluntariness and takes place entirely on the client's assignment.
The role suits you if you appreciate freedom under responsibility and thrive working independently. You will have your own office space and access to a company car in the City of Västerås. Travel is a natural and significant part of the job, so you need to enjoy a role involving many meetings at various locations within the city. Home visits to clients are also part of the work. There is also an opportunity to work from home on certain days when the tasks allow.
Your qualifications
We are looking for you who have experience working with people in need of support for their own development and independence. You have a relevant academic education, for example in psychology, social work, public health science, or habilitation. Knowledge of conversation methods and experience working with people with mental and neuropsychiatric disabilities is advantageous.
We believe you are secure and perceptive, with the ability to meet people in the situation they are in and to take in different perspectives, even in challenging situations. You appreciate working independently and taking responsibility, while also valuing collaboration with colleagues. You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and can adapt your communication to the recipient. A B-class driver's license is a requirement, and you see driving as a natural part of the job.
What we offer
The position is part of the activity's continued development and investment in the county. We offer a role with significant personal responsibility where you plan your days yourself based on the clients' needs. Here you will receive a county-wide assignment with varying workdays that provide both development and meaning. At the same time, you become part of a secure and considerate work group with high competence, where collegial support and experience sharing are a natural part of everyday life. For us, it is important that you receive a thorough introduction that makes you secure in your role, and you are offered supervision and continuous competence development to grow both professionally and personally.
With us, you become part of Personal Representative Västmanland, an activity with eleven engaged employees who together cover the county's ten municipalities. We have offices in both Västerås and Köping, and in this role, you will primarily work within the City of Västerås. You are affiliated with the Västerås office where the work group meets every week for joint planning and experience sharing. You also have access to office premises and a company car. In addition, the county's eleven personal representatives meet monthly for supervision and Appraisal and Development Talks (APT), which provides both support, development, and a sense of community throughout the activity.
We believe in trust and freedom under responsibility. This means you plan your workday yourself, have flexible hours, and the opportunity to work remotely for part of the time.
Here you become part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we show initiative in the big and the small. We live our values in our meeting with each other and those we are here for. Every day, all year round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approx. 11,500 colleagues around the city, you get Sweden's most important job.
