We are now looking for a counselor to the Youth Clinic in Västerås.

Job Responsibilities

As a counselor with us, your main tasks will be to independently provide advisory and supportive conversations in individual meetings with young people, both in the form of booked physical or digital visits and drop-ins. Part of our mission also involves outward-facing work at schools and youth centers.

Our partners include schools, social services, and other healthcare providers. Another important part of our work is staying updated on young people's needs and the different arenas they frequent.

The Youth Clinic in Västmanland consists of counselors, midwives, assistant nurses, and doctors. You will be part of the staff group for the county's youth clinics, which means you will have meetings, training, development work, and supervision together with other colleagues at the county's youth clinics. We also support each other in our work at the different clinics as needed.

About the Workplace

At the youth clinics, young people aged 13–23 are offered a service with multidisciplinary competence; medical and psychosocial, which gives young people the opportunity to receive advice and support on the various issues and problems that come with development from child to adult, all in one place.

The activity focuses on preventive measures and the ability to detect health risks early, both at the individual level and more generally, especially within:

• sexuality and cohabitation
• psychological and psychosocial issues
• culturally related issues
• lifestyle issues
• general medical issues such as bodily development and health questions based on the above-mentioned areas.

Qualifications

You who apply have a degree in social work. Step 1 training and previous experience working with young people are meritorious for the position.

As a person, you are open, receptive, and value good collaboration. The work requires employees with commitment and great respect and interest in the living conditions of young people. We place great importance on flexibility as well as the ability and willingness to collaborate across professional boundaries. You have the ability to convey security and to see and meet each young person based on their maturity and needs. You have a strong interest in young people and preventive work.

A B-class driver's license is a requirement.

Terms of Employment

Fixed-term employment, degree of employment can be discussed. Start date by agreement. Working hours during the day, weekdays, and occasional evening shifts may occur.
