Gamlebyviken School is located in Gamleby, just north of Västervik. We are an independent primary school with a Christian profile, catering to approximately 80 students from preschool class to grade 9.

We are looking for someone who wants to become part of our school and our vision of creating a safe school environment where students have the best possible conditions to succeed in their studies. With our small teaching groups and active values-based work, we build an accessible learning environment for all students. Our operations are small, family-like, and professional. The small format increases opportunities to support students both academically and socially. Schooling is not just about learning subject knowledge, but also about collaborating, challenging oneself, and growing as a human being. Students need many adults around them to guide them through these learning processes, which is why we have a relatively high staff density.

Responsibilities

You will work as a teaching teacher at the lower secondary level (grades 7-9). Opportunities exist in several subjects, including social sciences and natural sciences. Submit your application, and we will review if your profile matches our needs. The scope of the position can be adjusted, but a full-time position is offered. Here you will find just over 20 colleagues who are all passionate about our school. You will belong to a single work team, but also to a smaller subject-specific team.

As a teacher, you are responsible for designing your teaching based on the goals of the curriculum, where you plan, prepare, conduct, and evaluate your own teaching. If you are new to teaching, you will receive support from a mentor. If you are an unqualified teacher, you will conduct teaching but will not be responsible for grading.

Qualifications

You have a teacher certification with eligibility to teach at the lower secondary level. You have the ability to take independent responsibility for your teaching, but you are also a responsive team player who appreciates working according to sometimes shared methods. You focus not only on your own teaching but also contribute to creating a safe school by maintaining order, building relationships with students, and collaborating collegially to further develop the operations.

The school has not only the task of conveying subject knowledge but also a formative role. The curriculum (Lgr22) is clear that the Swedish compulsory school should not be value-neutral, but should be based on the ethics inherited from Christian tradition and Western humanism. For a school with a Christian profile, this is central. We want to convey a perspective of seeing each other as unique, inviolable, and free individuals who are equally valuable.
