The Sustainable Growth Unit belongs to the Regional Development Department. The department is responsible for the state mandate to strategically plan, lead, steer, and follow up on regional development work on Gotland. The department consists of approximately 60 employees and five units. Our focus is on sustainable regional development in accordance with the regional development strategy "Our Gotland 2040".
Your employment will be within the Sustainable Growth Unit, but you are expected to collaborate with several functions both internally within Region Gotland and externally. We have two teams with positive and development-driven colleagues.

Your responsibilities
As a strategist focusing on Gotland's attractiveness and the place brand Gotland, you are responsible for initiating, concretizing, and implementing strategic measures based on current strategies and goals, together with the business community, development actors, and colleagues. This involves leading people and processes to create implementation capacity from strategies to concrete deliverables. You are expected to conduct environmental scanning and possess analytical skills to understand needs, create direction, prioritization, and thereby clearly coordinate efforts between different actors and functions.
The work with the place brand Gotland needs to be strengthened regarding living, working, establishing, and further developed based on our already strong position regarding visiting. Part of the work is to actively contribute to the development of gotland.com, which is the digital hub of the place brand.
Your area of responsibility includes work in the following areas: responsibility for procurement, further developing communication efforts based on the place brand Gotland, evaluating and reporting on activities you conduct or participate in against decided goals and planned deliverables within your area of responsibility, preparing cases and responsible for collecting background material for reports, annual accounts, and analyses, handling necessary administrative systems, participating in internal development work regarding processes and working methods, and handling decision or consultation cases based on national or regional/municipal legislation.
Who are you?
You have an academic education in strategic communication, brand strategy, place branding, or other education that we assess corresponds to our competence needs regarding market and place development. We see that you have at least three years of experience working with place development, brand strategies, and strategic, preferably digital, communication, as well as experience with media contacts. You have at least three years of experience leading people and processes towards set goals and deliverables.
Advantageous is leadership training or education in business development. Furthermore, managerial or leadership experience from business and/or public administration is seen as an advantage, as is experience of crisis communication within public administration.
You work independently but have equal focus on the team's deliverables and development.
You have interest, knowledge, and experience of digital tools and platforms that move our work forward regarding modern communication methods, e.g., with the support of AI. You are accustomed to working both strategically and operationally with communication and marketing.
This role places high demands on your ability to prioritize the most important among many different development needs, contexts, and actors where the place brand Gotland should be the engine.
