Job Responsibilities

As an acting judge at Gotland District Court, you handle all types of cases and matters. The role involves qualified legal work that is both stimulating and varied. The work is characterized by independence and responsibility, and no day is like the other.

At the district court, judges, notaries, court clerks, and administrative staff work closely together and share responsibility for resolving cases and matters efficiently and with high legal certainty. Our operations are characterized by quality, efficiency, and well-being.

We actively take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitalization and value modern working methods, including digital case and matter management. This position is a merit for those who are interested in a permanent judge position in the future.

We work actively with digitalization and explore how AI can be used responsibly to strengthen quality, efficiency, and learning in operations – always with legal certainty in focus.

Qualifications

The work as a judge places high demands on legal skill, good judgment, and the ability to work both independently and with others. We are looking for you who have the willingness and ability to contribute to the district court meeting high demands for quality and efficiency.

You are flexible, solution-oriented, and enjoy collaborating, while also contributing to a pleasant and respectful work environment. The district court continuously works on developing operations, so we see that you are interested in actively participating in development work and open to trying new working methods.

To be considered for employment, you must have experience working as a member or prosecutor in an appellate court, or have performed the duties of an appellate prosecutor for at least six months. It is an advantage if you are or have been a permanent judge or appellate court assessor/administrative court assessor.

Otherwise, you must meet the requirements specified in the Judges' Appointment Board's requirement profile for permanent judges.

To be considered for employment, you must meet high demands regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. This means you stand up for democratic values and the state values that govern the operations of the Swedish Courts. We require that you follow current laws. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.

About Us

Gotland District Court is a small court with strong cohesion, where we work closely together with open dialogue and a shared responsibility for the whole. We are approximately twenty employees.

We combine high demands for quality and legal certainty with a desire to develop, through digitalization, modern working methods, and active improvement work. We are located in Visby, and a premises project is underway focusing on modernizing and creating functional spaces.

Practical Information about the Employment

The employment is a fixed-term employment for at least six months and up to one year, full-time, with start date according to agreement.

There may also be an opportunity to work remotely, according to agreement.
