Grillska Gymnasiet Kungsholmen is now seeking a School Counselor
Welcome to Grillska Gymnasiet Kungsholmen – here you make a difference and contribute to a better society
You will join a school founded on a clear value base in its pedagogy, knowledge dissemination, and culture. The school is owned by Stadsmissionens Skolstiftelse, one of Sweden's largest non-profit educational operators and a prominent and important player in the non-profit sector.
Our school on Kungsholmen consists of approximately 260 students, divided into two programs: the Economics Program and the Restaurant and Food Program. The school is described as having a family atmosphere where we value personal interaction with the students.
Do you want to become our new counselor?
At Grillska Gymnasiet Kungsholmen, you will work with students who are transitioning into adulthood and may need extra support along the way, as well as with staff who believe in young people's willingness and ability to develop. Your role as our counselor involves working closely with students, focusing on preventive and promoting work during their journey toward a high school diploma.
You will be part of a student health team consisting of a school nurse, special education teacher, social pedagogue, and study and career counselor. Together, you will work towards the goals set for student health work during the academic year.
The role of counselor with us
We are looking for you who are an experienced counselor with experience in student work, both regarding conversation support and guidance of individual students, as well as experience in preventive work with health issues in classrooms. We aim for the counselor and other staff in the student health team to work closely with students by being where the students are – both in the classroom and during breaks. Therefore, it is important that you are interested in the high school as a whole.
You have a good ability to build trusting relationships with students, guardians, and staff alike. Clarity, ambition, and engagement will be important qualities in your role as a counselor in the school's continued development journey. You work with the keywords courage, ambition, and heart as constant companions. We therefore see that you have an open mind, an interest in further development, and a desire to help your colleagues develop through your contributions. Previous experience in similar roles at the high school level, as well as knowledge and local networks in Stockholm, are meritorious.
Your overall areas of responsibility include psychosocial health and well-being, as well as being an expert in issues concerning discrimination and humiliating treatment. You are a social worker or have an education that the employer considers equivalent.
We strive for equality, gender equality, and diversity in our workplace and welcome candidates with different backgrounds and prerequisites. We look forward to receiving your application! Interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis.

Stadsmissionens Skolstiftelse is a non-profit owner that runs Grillska Gymnasiet. With seven high schools in the Mälardalen region and approximately 3,000 students, we equip young people with knowledge, security, care, and courage – for the future and for society.
Stadsmissionens Skolstiftelse works according to a pedagogical model with common activities and methods. This means, among other things, that our education is characterized by civic engagement, entrepreneurship, and health, with a clear connection to reality.
Being non-profit means primarily that we are not driven by any interests other than our vision – a school for a more humane society. The high schools are independent schools run in foundation form; there is no owner taking out profits. Any surplus goes towards the development of the operations.
The founder of the foundation, Stockholm City Mission, has been engaged in education since 1857, and we share the same fundamental, humanistic view of humanity and values.
Through education, we can prevent exclusion and strengthen the individual's belief in themselves and their own abilities, working towards our vision of a school for a more humane society.
