Your workplace

Dermatology covers the entire county and includes the dermatology and STI clinic at Karlstad Central Hospital as well as treatment clinics in several locations in Värmland.

We are now looking for a counselor for a fixed-term employment of approximately one year.

Your responsibilities

As a counselor, you are an important resource at the dermatology and STI clinic. We offer you an interesting and stimulating job in close cooperation with other professional groups.

As a counselor, you primarily work to assist patients with psychosocial support. Counseling is adapted to the patient's needs and reason for contact and is mainly supportive, advisory conversations, crisis treatment, processing conversations, and/or motivational conversations.

In counseling, the aim is to try to strengthen opportunities and mobilize resources for the individual to handle external and internal stressors. The counselor at the Dermatology and STI clinic has a divided assignment between counseling support and contact tracing.

The counselor works with contact tracing of the sexually transmitted diseases chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis according to the Communicable Diseases Act (SmL), which is done within five working days. You also work with preventive work in STI issues as well as internal and external collaboration.

Opportunity for external supervision once a month is provided, as well as participation in the network for counselors within somatic inpatient care.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for you who have a degree in social work or other education that the employer considers equivalent. It is meritorious if you are a licensed health care counselor. It is a plus if you have experience with contact tracing, but it is not a requirement. You hold an open view of humanity, are engaged, and interested in being involved in the development work of the activity. You are independent, responsible, and have a good ability to cooperate. Great importance is attached to personal suitability, where we value high social competence and good treatment.
