We are looking for you
We are looking for you who want to contribute to creating a functional school experience for a group of students where the school situation has been challenging.
The Assignment
The Social Sciences Program Flex at Rodengymnasiet is a high school program for students with a diagnosis within the autism spectrum.
Flex is located in its own wing at Rodengymnasiet. Our premises are furnished in calm colors and are well adapted to the students' difficulties. All students have their own workspace in their home classroom. The students receive support from their mentor who follows the student group throughout the entire school day and who, together with the subject teacher, supports the students during all lessons. As a mentor, you follow a student group of ten students and support in every way necessary. This can include everything from supporting the student in getting to school to supporting the student in meal situations or in various socially challenging situations during the school day.
Flex consists of a work team of 12 people who work closely together to create the best possible operation for our students.
One of our mentors will be on study leave, which is why we are now looking for a substitute. You who apply should have teacher training or other pedagogical education.
Most importantly, however, you must be qualified to meet students with a diagnosis within the autism spectrum, and have the ability to help students grow based on their individual strengths and abilities.
Responsibilities
- Be a mentor for a class of ten students, all of whom have a diagnosis within the autism spectrum.
- Be present throughout the entire school day, helping students start and carry out their work during lessons.
- Help students with their social development; build self-confidence, work with group dynamics, and be a role model, both during lesson time and during student breaks.
- Maintain close cooperation with the students' guardians.
- Be a support for the subject teachers and, together with them, design and adapt the teaching so that it promotes the students' learning and development in the best possible way.
What you need to bring with you
- Pedagogical education
- Good ability to build relationships with students with a diagnosis within the autism spectrum.
- Ability to read group processes and students' needs, and act accordingly.
- Flexibility and creativity, as well as a very good ability to create structure.
- Patience and the ability to be both sensitive and clear.
- Desire to work closely with your colleagues and make joint decisions.
