Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individualized compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse issues across the country. At SiS, your working life becomes an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Klarälvsgården receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial problems, as well as criminality and substance abuse. We have the mandate to receive boys with an increased need for psychiatric interventions.

Job Description

Do you want to be part of creating life-changing change for vulnerable people? Then the job as a Treatment Pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge. As a treatment pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the security, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivational work and act as a support in everyday life. With the support of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the completion of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work and contributes to legal certainty, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You contribute to maintaining security according to our routines and you help ensure that daily life flows smoothly with school attendance, cleaning, cooking, etc. Contact person responsibilities are also one of your tasks. The work may also include mentoring new employees and interns. This is a job for you who sees a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to schedule: day, evening, night, and weekends.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training alternates between theory and supervised introduction, and prepares you for the therapist role in SiS operations.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of humanity. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and you share SiS's value base, to be a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our young people. As a person, you are confident in yourself and have an easy time building relationships with young people as well as with other members of the staff group. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in pressurized situations. You find it easy to cooperate with others and you can handle conflicts in a constructive way.

You must also have:

  • A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or education from a university that we assess as equivalent
  • Category B driver's license
  • Good Swedish language skills in speech and writing

Meritorious:

  • Experience working with our target group aged 16-21

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time position and begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.
