We are looking for a Systems Engineer who will be technically responsible for the command support systems in one of the sections of the Air Staff.

About the Department/Section

The Intelligence and Security Department (A2) leads the function in the Air Force, including collection and collection direction at all readiness levels. The main task is to support the Commander of the Air Force and the Air Staff with decision support and situational awareness during the air combat forces' various national and international operations. The activity is conducted in cooperation with land and naval combat forces as well as joint operations, both nationally and internationally, together with other nations, organizations, and authorities. The department functionally manages subordinate units regarding intelligence and security services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for and coordinate the technical support for the section's IT systems and represent the section within the materiel area
  • Within the section, be cohesive regarding planning, direction, and follow-up of the technical systems. Represent the section at cooperation meetings within and outside the Swedish Armed Forces as well as with other actors
  • You will act as a "super user" and technical support, which involves ordering, troubleshooting, installing, and upgrading software and hardware. You will have close contact with technical and operational personnel for the systems
  • Support with administrative tasks such as rights and account management, documentation of IT systems, and information flow
  • Support with information management and other operational management support
  • Participate in planning, collection, production, and distribution of reports and decision materials
  • Support the daily operation of the section's/department's systems
  • Cooperate with other parts of the Swedish Armed Forces and external actors within assigned tasks.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • High competence in IT/network/Telecom/telecommunications technology (one or more) and/or equivalent higher education
  • Experience in IT/telecom administration
  • Work experience in the relevant professional area
  • Good administrative skills
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
  • Category B driver's license

We are looking for you who have good collaboration skills, are technically interested, and thereby possess good technical understanding to analyze and plan complex tasks. You are analytical, proactive, and initiative-taking. To thrive, you should be able to work independently, sometimes with incomplete decision materials, but also in a group. You should be flexible to handle quickly arising tasks and changed situations. The position requires good communication skills as it involves cooperation with many contact surfaces. The Air Staff works with operational activities, which requires personnel to:

Merits

  • Education or work experience in the intelligence and/or security service area nationally and/or internationally
  • Experience from working with technical service within the Swedish Armed Forces at FMTIS or equivalent
  • Completed conscription or equivalent education
  • Skills in image processing programs, e.g., SOCET GXP.
  • Ability to work with and administer FM command support systems
  • Knowledge of air and space combat forces
  • Knowledge of GEO and mapping tools, such as various GIS tools
  • Experience handling classified information
  • Experience handling large amounts of data in different formats.
  • Category C driver's license

Other

Employment type: Civil permanent employment starting with a six-month probationary period.

Employment level: Full-time. The position involves work at irregular times as well as longer continuous work shifts during, for example, exercises and operations, sometimes at other workplaces and countries without the possibility of going home.

Workplace: Uppsala. Business travel within Sweden and abroad may occur.

Start date: As soon as possible according to agreement.
