Senior System Engineer
Q-linea AB
Q-linea AB is a listed diagnostics company focused on developing and delivering solutions that enable healthcare providers to diagnose and treat infectious diseases in the shortest possible time. Our vision is to help save lives by ensuring, as an innovative pioneer, that antibiotics can be maintained as an effective treatment for future generations.
The company was founded in 2008 by researchers from the Rudbeck Laboratory at Uppsala University, together with Olink Bioscience AB and Uppsala University's holding company UUAB, among others. Q-linea currently consists of an interdisciplinary and highly motivated team operating in modern, well-adapted facilities at Uppsala Science Park and in Fyrislund.
Do you want to take technical leadership in the development of future diagnostic systems?
We are looking for you who want to take a key role in further developing and ensuring the robustness of our medical technology system platforms. As a Senior System Engineer at Q-linea, you will have the opportunity to work at the intersection of electronics, mechanics, and system understanding – in a business where technology, quality, and patient benefit are at the center.
The role involves significant technical responsibility and suits you if you thrive in an environment where the focus is on improvement, stabilization, and lifecycle management rather than pure new development. You will become an important part of our System & Software team and work closely with both internal functions and external partners to ensure that our products maintain the highest quality and robustness over time.
About the role
In the role of Senior System Engineer, you will function as a technical lead in hardware development and lifecycle management, with a special focus on electronics and mechanical design. The role involves responsibility for formulating, maintaining, and further developing technical requirement specifications, as well as driving technical improvement initiatives related to our existing instrument platforms.
You will work closely with development, QA/RA, production, and external suppliers, and contribute with technical support both internally and externally. The role requires a high degree of independence, good communication skills, and a structured approach to work.
You report to the Manager System & Software and are part of a small but highly competent team consisting of both senior and junior system engineers.
The location is Uppsala.

- Drive improvement and robustness work for existing instrument platforms.
- Formulate, maintain, and update technical requirements and design specifications.

- A Master of Science degree in fields such as electronics, mechatronics, medical technology, or a similar area.
- At least 10 years of experience in the development, maintenance, and lifecycle management of medical technology products.
- Strong technical competence in electronics and a good understanding of mechanical construction.
- Experience in regulatory environments and quality management systems within medical technology (e.g., ISO 13485 and IVDR).
- Experience in formulating and handling technical requirement specifications and design documentation.
- Ability to work independently and drive technical issues towards external resources and suppliers.
- Good proficiency in technical documentation in both Swedish and English.
- Experience with relevant CAD tools for electronics design.
- Experience in troubleshooting and verification of complex systems.
Meritorious
- Experience with EMC-related issues.
- Knowledge of IEC 61010.

- Experience from a diagnostics or laboratory environment.
- Experience working in cross-functional development teams.

- Technically confident and accustomed to taking informal technical leadership.
- Independent and proactive.
- Communicative with good collaboration skills.

- Motivated by improving and optimizing rather than “inventing new things.”
- Comfortable in a changing environment with high tempo and significant responsibility.
We offer
The employment is covered by the IKEM collective agreement for white-collar workers, which means you will benefit from collectively agreed insurance and occupational pension according to ITP1.
- 30 days of vacation.
