The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. Today, we are Uppsala University's third largest department, with over 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 doctoral students. The work will be carried out at the Information Laboratory (InfoLab), Department of Information Technology. At Uppsala University's Information Laboratory (UU-InfoLab), we conduct basic and applied research on knowledge extraction from social data. We develop models, methods, methodologies, and software to analyze multi-layered, temporal, textual, visual, and probabilistic information networks, which we use to capture complex aspects of contemporary social data, such as heterogeneity, speed, unstructuredness, and uncertainty. Our applications include the analysis of online political communication and studies of misinformation online.

Respons

The role involves writing code and conducting analyses of social media data collected within our projects on visual politics online.

Qualifications

The applicant must hold a master's degree or be in the final stages of their master's studies, possess strong language skills, programming knowledge, and experience in analyzing social media data.

Desirable/Additional Qualifications

Good teamwork skills and education in computational social science.

About the Position

The position is fixed-term for 5 months. The scope is 100%. Start date: August 1, 2026, or as agreed. Location: Uppsala.
