A key role for SLU's future security work

Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet (SLU) is looking for an experienced and strategic IT Security Manager who wants to be central to shaping and leading the university's continued work on cybersecurity. The role is strategically important for SLU's IT department and has a decisive influence on how we secure the university's digital environment.

You will be instrumental in developing and implementing the university's IT security strategy, leading critical security projects, and ensuring that SLU maintains a robust and effective IT security posture. Your work and expertise will directly impact how the university handles security in the coming years.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-term IT security strategies in line with SLU's goals and operations.
• Act as an internal expert, advisor, and collaborator to ensure a holistic view of the security mandate.
• Ensure the protection of the university's networks, systems, clients, and data.
• Work with risk analyses, security monitoring, and incident management.
• Drive strategic work regarding regulatory compliance (GDPR, NIS2, etc.).
• Collaborate with management, the IT department, and other stakeholders within the university.
• Develop security awareness and security competence within the organization.
• Monitor and analyze cyber threats, vulnerabilities, trends, and new technology.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

• A relevant academic education in IT or equivalent qualifications assessed as comparable, and at least five years of experience with IT security issues.
• Documented experience in leading and coordinating technical security work and projects.
• Broad technical competence in network security, system security, and application security.
• Experience working with regulatory compliance and standards.
• Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in IT security (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, ISO 27001).
• Experience from an academic environment or the public sector.
• Experience with security architecture and modern security concepts (Zero Trust, SIEM, SOC, EDR/XDR).
• Knowledge of cyber threats, threat hunting, and incident management.
• Experience with penetration testing and vulnerability management.
• Experience driving change management within IT security.
• Project management training and experience with project models such as PPS are meritorious.
