Flygstaben is now recruiting two Battle Management Processors. Here you have the opportunity to develop within intelligence and security services together with others. The work consists of interesting and varied tasks at a higher tactical command level. The position also offers opportunities for personal development through participation in exercises, method and development work, as well as competence development. Upon taking up the position, you will undergo function-specific training.
About the department/section
The Intelligence and Security Department (A2) leads the function in the Air Force, including collection and collection management at all readiness levels. The main task is to support the Chief of the Air Force and Flygstaben with decision support and situational awareness during the air combat forces' various national and international operations. The activity is conducted in collaboration with land and naval combat forces as well as joint operations, both nationally and internationally, together with other nations, organizations, and authorities. The department also supports the Swedish Armed Forces' long-range strike capability.
Main responsibilities
The section supports the Swedish Armed Forces with collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination of information and intelligence to support the Armed Forces' long-range strike capability. Within the section, geographical data is analyzed and structured to enable planning and use of long-range weapon systems. This is done using own collection as well as in collaboration with other parts of the Swedish Armed Forces and international partners.
Together with your colleagues, you work on structuring geographical and technical data and identifying and processing different types of phenomena that may affect a possible operation. As a processor, you will focus on creating the prerequisites required for successful long-range strike by analyzing and producing geographical data. You are responsible for identifying the right information elements, processing and collecting the correct information, and delivering structured data and products to support long-range strike.
The work is carried out in a team that utilizes geographical databases with satellite images and other technical parameters.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Degree at university level, or equivalent education/experience assessed by the employer as equivalent and relevant.
- Experience in processing and refining large datasets, as well as analyzing and reporting results to stakeholders.
- Good ability to independently create and manage digital maps and map services within IT systems and problem-solving using GIS tools.
- Ability to develop and/or configure solutions using geographic IT.
- Practical experience with scripting (e.g., Python, Java).
- Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.
- Category B driver's license.
Personal qualities
We are looking for an analytical person with curiosity for geographical information and processing. You have good cooperation skills, are technically interested, and possess good technical understanding. You are analytical, proactive, and initiative-taking with a desire to develop and drive the business forward. You have a good ability to work independently, sometimes with incomplete decision support. The position requires good communication skills as you are an important part of a team.
Flygstaben works with operational activities, which places demands on the staff. You should be flexible to handle quickly arising tasks and changed situations. You also need to be content with knowing the importance of your and your colleagues' work without having the opportunity to tell outsiders about details regarding your work.
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
Merits
- Trained image interpreter.
- Skills in GEOINT/IMINT/OSINT.
- Previous service at the Swedish Intelligence Service (Säpo) or Military Intelligence and Security Service (MUST).
- Experience working with databases and digital analysis tools.
- Practical experience with database management.
- Practical experience with various GIS tools, including the ArcGIS platform, FME, etc.
- Experience integrating AI/ML into practical workflows.
- Good experience with IT development.
- Practical experience and/or education in intelligence and security services.
- Good ability to handle the Swedish Armed Forces' information systems intended for handling security-classified tasks, e.g., ISUS and SWECCIS.
- Experience serving at a tactical or operational staff.
- Education in the targeting process.
