The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is a government agency responsible for providing individually tailored involuntary care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse issues across the country. Working at SiS means your professional life will be a thrilling challenge. No matter where you work within our organization or what role you hold, you play a vital part in creating life-changing change.
SiS Youth Home Sundbo, located outside Fagersta, receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial problems, criminal behavior, and substance abuse. We are tasked with providing care for young people with special care needs and receive boys who have been sentenced to closed youth care (LSU).
Job Description
We are expanding our organization and are in need of more teaching teachers!
The young people who come to us find themselves in difficult and challenging life situations. Many have negative experiences with school and low confidence in their own abilities. As a teacher here, you work with these students and have a unique opportunity to spark their desire to learn and make them proud of themselves. Teaching takes place in small classes, allowing you ample time for each student. You always base your work on individual needs and build trusting and professional relationships that make the young people feel secure at school.
Sundbo School operates as a separate unit within the institution. We collaborate to plan, teach in smaller groups, evaluate, and develop the school work within the institution. The teaching at Sundbo covers both upper secondary and lower secondary levels, with most young people being between 16 and 20 years old. The educational activities within SiS follow the same regulations as the general school system, except that necessary deviations in teaching may occur considering the student's needs.
We have newly built and adapted school facilities in what is known as a "standard school" where most of the teaching takes place.
Sundbo School is responsible for the education of all enrolled young people, regardless of their issues or placement form. All young people residing at the youth home are entitled to receive the education they need and have a right to. We work closely with the young people and maintain a positive atmosphere in both work and relationships. The teachers both instruct and have mentorship responsibilities for the students.
Qualifications
Teacher certification with subject competence in Swedish and English for upper secondary education.
You have experience in pedagogical work in a school environment.
At SiS, we value good employee relations. This means that as an employee, you take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration. Meritorious Qualifications
As a person, you are secure, stable, and calm, even in stressful situations. You always take responsibility for your tasks by planning, organizing, and prioritizing work effectively to achieve set goals. We appreciate if you are unpretentious, flexible, able to set and maintain boundaries respectfully, and have faith that all students can find a path to education and work.
Previous work within introduction programs, as well as work in special teaching groups, is particularly meritorious.
Employment:
The position is a permanent full-time employment, starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.
Tests and work samples may be included in the recruitment process.
We welcome you to register your application in our recruitment tool by June 11.
SiS actively works against all forms of discrimination and welcomes all applicants.
For work at our institutions, SiS conducts register checks before employment.
