Social Worker for the Western Investigation Unit at the Family Department in Karlstad

Here, you will work to contribute to safety, support, and hope for the future for children, young people, and their families. The Western Investigation Unit is looking for new colleagues – investigative social workers and social workers focusing on the follow-up of interventions.

We are part of the Family Department of the Employment and Social Administration and are one of two investigation units. Our mission is to assess the need for support and protection for children and young people in vulnerable life situations – always with the best interests of the child in focus.

About the role

As an investigative social worker, you work to investigate the needs of children and parents according to the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Law on Care of Young Persons (LVU). You meet with children, parents, and their networks, collaborate with other professions, and document your assessments in a legally secure and structured manner.

As an intervention case manager, your focus is on following up on approved interventions for children and young people. This can involve outpatient interventions, foster care placements, or residential care (HVB). In both roles, travel is required, sometimes for longer periods, together with co-case managers.

The work is varied and requires you to prioritize, adapt plans, and take responsibility for your cases. At the same time, you are never alone – among us, you always have colleagues, case supervisors, and managers close by for support, dialogue, and joint assessments.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who have a degree in Social Work. Experience in authority enforcement within the social services' child and youth care (0–18 years) is meritorious.
