The Department of Children and Education includes preschool, primary school, adapted primary school, after-school centers, upper secondary school, and adult education. Currently, more than 200 employees work in our department.

We lay the foundation for lifelong learning by offering secure care and stimulating learning environments. We actively work with guiding interactions and base our approach on the prerequisites and personal abilities of the children and students. We work towards high goal achievement and ensure that every student gets the best possible conditions for a secure and successful school career. We offer our children and young people a meaningful leisure time through our after-school activities.

Lekeberg School F-6 is located in the central town of Fjugesta and has approximately 400 students. In addition to grades F-6 and the after-school center, the municipality's adapted primary school is also located here. Lekeberg School was renovated in 2020. The school consists of a newly built part and an older part that has been renovated. The sports hall and school cafeteria have also been renovated.

We are now looking for a special needs teacher for Lekeberg School's adapted primary school, with the main task of working with students studying subject areas. The position is located in the adapted primary school and involves close teamwork regarding the students' learning, development, and well-being.

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position include among other things:

  • Teaching and supporting students who study according to subject areas in the adapted primary school, in close collaboration with additional special needs teachers/mentors and other staff.
  • Planning, implementing, and following up on teaching that is largely thematic, where different subject areas are woven together based on the students' needs, interests, and prerequisites.
  • Adapt teaching continuously and be flexible, with the ability to sense and meet the student group you are working with here and now.
  • Create structure, clarity, and meaningful contexts that promote the students' participation, communication, and development.
  • Collaborate closely with the school's special educators, special needs teachers, and other professions regarding the students.

Student Health and Collaboration

To create a calm, secure, and developmental working environment for both students and staff, we have a local student health service at the school. Educators have the opportunity to book time for counseling and support in pedagogical and didactic questions as well as in cases of social concern regarding a student. The student health team consists of the principal, school nurse, special educator, counselor, and at times a school psychologist. As a special needs teacher, you are an important part of this work and contribute your competence to the promoting and preventive student health work.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are:

  • Trained as a special needs teacher with a focus on IF (Individualized Education), or a qualified teacher with special pedagogical competence.

We would like you to have experience working in school operations; it is particularly meritorious if you have experience from adapted primary school and work with subject areas.

  • Enjoy working thematically and creatively, and see possibilities in adapting teaching based on the student group's daily mood and interests.

  • Are also sensitive and flexible in collaboration with colleagues, and see the value of a non-hierarchical working style where one supports and adapts to each other for the students' best interests.
  • Base your approach on the students' strengths and abilities and have a solution-focused attitude.
  • Are accustomed to using digital tools as support in teaching.
  • Value collegial learning and are happy to share knowledge and experiences to develop the operations together.

Great importance is placed on personal suitability. A certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) is also required for the position.
