We are looking for a substitute youth counselor for the summer of 2026 at Nytida Open Care in Karlstad. Nytida Open Care in Karlstad currently consists of two youth counselors. The team also includes a unit manager and an operations manager. We offer structured open care, qualified key worker support, and housing support in our training apartments. Our target group includes children, young people, and young adults with psychosocial issues, neuropsychiatric diagnoses, substance abuse, criminality, or other socially destructive behaviors, as well as individuals with protection needs. We aim to create good solutions for individual users and commissioners through responsibility, competence, and participation. Our interventions and organization are characterized by care, commitment, and collaboration at all levels.

Your assignment
As a youth counselor at Nytida Open Care, you collaborate closely with all stakeholders around the young person: social services, healthcare, guardians/relatives, school staff, and other important people in the young person's life. Your tasks may vary but are based on the needs of the commissioner and the young person. The main task is to work closely with the young person to achieve the goals set in the implementation plan. Since all young people in our open care live in training apartments or with their parents, the role of a youth counselor is far from office or institutional work.

In the role of substitute youth counselor, you are responsible for:

• Documenting according to current legislation.
• Collaborating with the young person's network and colleagues.
• Reporting to and providing feedback to your immediate manager, and working according to the company's goals and guidelines.

The position is full-time and includes full trust-based hours. This means you, as an employee, are responsible for scheduling your own work, as long as the most important aspect—the young person's needs—remains the focus.

Your experience and knowledge
We are looking for you who have experience with the target group and similar work. Merits include education in MI (Motivational Interviewing), relapse prevention, substance abuse, and low-arousal approach. An academic degree in behavioral science, such as social work, behavioral science, or another equivalent degree, is also a plus.

You see opportunities, have a positive outlook, and a strong commitment to people. The work requires you to be responsible, solution-oriented, and personally mature. You share your knowledge and experiences with colleagues and naturally contribute to a positive work climate. You appreciate varied tasks and working hours. This is important as our youth counselors manage their own schedules, and trust-based hours are crucial for meeting our young people in the best way. Additionally, you have good computer skills and good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.

A Category B driver's license and daily access to a car are mandatory. If you do not have these, you will not be considered for the position.

A certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) will be required upon employment.
