Company Description
AFRY offers services within engineering, design, digitalization, and consulting. We are dedicated experts within industry, energy, and infrastructure, creating value for future generations. AFRY has Nordic roots with a global reach. Our shared principles – Result driven, Client centric, Empowering, and Accountable – guide how we work, develop, and succeed together. Join us in accelerating the transition to a sustainable society.
Job Description
We are looking for you who want to be part of AFRY’s exciting future. Do you have a passion for solving environmental challenges and contributing to tomorrow's society? Do you want to lead the development within infrastructure where environment, sustainability, and digital solutions intersect? Then there are opportunities to do this together with other #teamplayers within AFRY’s business area Environment.
Within the business area Environment, AFRY offers qualified consulting services within environment & sustainability as well as contaminated sites. In Gothenburg/Halmstad/Malmö/Karlskrona, AFRY currently has four sections working with notification and permit cases, water and air investigations, environmental impact assessments, environmental and nature investigations, environmental technical site investigations, environmental controls, risk assessments, sustainability, auditing, and quality management. Our customers are found in both the private as well as the municipal and public sectors.
Currently, the demand for services from biologists is high, and we are therefore looking for you who want to complement and expand our offering of biologists in the South West region.
As a biologist with us, you work with field inventories, desk studies, assessments, screening in early stages, and report writing for the delivery of results to the customer. Additionally, you support your colleagues in nature/species-related matters. You work with varying assignments for customers within, for example, urban planning, infrastructure, solar, and wind power. The work involves some travel, especially during the field season. Fieldwork is carried out together with colleagues, and you will also have the opportunity to lead your own assignments and help develop AFRY’s services within the natural environment and contribute to a more sustainable society.
AFRY has a consolidated nature group of consultants who collaborate across the country, ensuring quality assurance of assignments, exchanging important knowledge and experiences, supporting each other, and monitoring industry development together.
Qualifications
At AFRY, we live by our values: “Brave – Devoted – Team players,” which also says a lot about who we are looking for! We place great emphasis on your personal qualities, as we value engagement, flexibility, and the ability to collaborate with others. We are looking for a brave and devoted team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and helping others develop. We believe you have a passion for seeing people grow and achieving good solutions together.
To succeed and thrive in your role as an environmental consultant, we are looking for you who have:
- A university or college degree in biology or equivalent education.
- At least two years of experience working as a biologist and a genuine interest in nature and the environment.
- Basic knowledge of GIS.
- Previous experience from work with nature and the environment.
- A driver’s license (Category B) is required.
It is also meritorious if you have:
- Previous experience with nature value inventories, fieldwork experience, and in-depth knowledge within species groups such as bats, vascular plants/cryptogams, or birds.
- Flexibility and good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing, as our customers are primarily within Sweden. As we collaborate internationally with the rest of AFRY, it is also desirable to have good knowledge of English.
- Alongside your analytical skills and technical/process knowledge, it is important that you are business-minded and have good communication skills with employees and customers.
