The Department of Health Sciences consists of three subject environments: nursing, public health science, and oral health, and belongs to the Faculty of Health, Natural Sciences, and Technology. The department works together to build a strong health sector. Here, you will have the opportunity to work in an educational and research environment that stimulates collaboration between different subject areas. Within the subject of nursing, we offer nursing education, specialist nurse education (emergency care, intensive care, operating room nursing, and district nursing), standalone courses, commissioned education, and doctoral education. Nursing is the main subject in degrees at the basic level (bachelor's level) and advanced level (master's degree), as well as a subject in degrees at the doctoral level (licentiate and doctoral degrees). There are approximately 800 students enrolled in our programs. Within the subject of nursing, development work is underway to clarify and strengthen fundamental nursing (Fundamentals of care) in education and research.

The subject's research covers three research areas that partially integrate with each other: models and innovations for safe care, management of complex health conditions, and competence and professional development within nursing. The doctoral education in the subject is linked to the university's doctoral school in the health area, the Doctoral School of Health.

Job Responsibilities

We offer a varied job with teaching primarily on campus, but distance teaching may also occur. You will have the opportunity to work with planning and teaching, primarily within our programs, but also within standalone courses and commissioned education. Supervision of thesis work within the nursing program is also included. Collaboration with healthcare providers in the surrounding community is an important part of the work. Important partners include Region Värmland, Värmland municipalities, as well as other regions and municipalities in the country. If you have specialist nurse education in any of the specializations we offer, teaching within the relevant specialist nurse program may be relevant.

As a university lecturer, you are part of the pedagogical development work. The work takes place in a changing and creative environment where you actively participate in the development of education and teaching and contribute to how research and education are integrated. To contribute to a good working environment and the development of the subject, you participate in the daily work community at the department when tasks are not assigned to another location. You follow developments within the subject and other societal developments that are significant for the teacher's work.

Qualification Requirements

The position requires a master's degree in nursing/health science/health pedagogy or another degree that can be assessed as equivalent. Since teaching and student contact mostly take place in Swedish, knowledge of Swedish is a requirement.

In addition, completed university pedagogical education is required. If this education is missing, employment can still take place, provided that the employee commits to completing it during the first two years of employment. Assessment Criteria

Great importance will be attached to:

• Clinical experience as a nurse.
• Experience of teaching and/or supervision at the university level within nursing education or specialist nurse education.
• Experience of work or teaching within fundamental nursing (Fundamentals of care).
• Personal qualities such as good ability for independent work and planning of one's own work, responsiveness, ability to collaborate, initiative, and engagement in the activities.

Meritorious are:

• Specialist nurse degree as an emergency nurse, district nurse, intensive care nurse, or operating room nurse.
• Knowledge of English.
• Experience of research and scientific production.

Terms

Permanent full-time employment starting 2026-06-01 or by agreement. A probationary period may apply.
