The Faculty of Health, Nature- and Technology Sciences is advertising a position as a University Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the Department of Engineering Sciences and Physics. The position is located within the subject of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, one of the department's subjects. Other subjects include Electrical Engineering, Industrial Economics, and Physics. The department, with a total of approximately 60 employees including 9 professors, is characterized by a friendly, inspiring, and international atmosphere, with a large number of colleagues from various parts of the world.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include:

• teaching within our engineering programs, including examination, course planning, and course development,
• collaborating nationally and internationally on educational matters,
• cooperating with society and industry on educational issues, and
• educational administration.

Teaching covers mechanical engineering courses at basic and advanced levels, primarily in design technology, machine elements, mechanics of materials, and product development. Teaching in other courses may also be relevant. Participation in selected research projects may also be required.

To contribute to a good working environment and the development of the operation, it is important that you are present and participate in the daily work and community.

Qualifications

To be eligible for employment as a University Lecturer, you must have at least a degree of 180 credits in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject, or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way, as well as other competence relevant to the subject focus of the employment and the tasks included in the position.

A qualifying university pedagogical education is a requirement. If this education is missing, employment can still take place provided that the employee completes the education within the framework of the competence development period during the first two years of employment.

Additional qualification requirements are good subject knowledge and pedagogical ability.

For permanent employment as a teacher at Karlstad University, good knowledge of both Swedish and English is normally required. If one of these skills is missing, employment can still take place provided that the employee actively works to acquire the knowledge.

Of Special Importance

• Experience of teaching and course development within the mechanical engineering field with good pedagogical results.
• Ability to teach in Swedish and English.

• Personal qualities such as teamwork, responsibility, initiative, and determination, as well as commitment and a positive attitude towards colleagues and students.
• Industrial experience.
• Experience of driving development projects.

Terms

The position is a permanent full-time employment (100%), with a start date to be agreed upon. A probationary period may apply.
