Job Responsibilities

Do you want to contribute to the development of Gothenburg's museums and art hall? Do you thrive in the role of management support and enabler for joint development work?

Gothenburg's Museums and Art Hall is a department within the City of Gothenburg's Department of Culture, consisting of Gothenburg Art Hall, Gothenburg Museum of Art, Gothenburg City Museum, Röhsska Museum, and the Maritime Museum Aquarium. The activities are in an exciting phase of development with many large development projects and a clear mandate to contribute to a more equal and inclusive city by shaping our activities to be relevant to more people.

In this role as Development Manager, you will work both strategically and administratively together with the department head and the management group to support the development of the activities.

You report to the department head and provide support to the management in the form of planning, goal setting and follow-up work, compilation of documentation, and coordination of department-wide operational planning. You will also facilitate various development initiatives. You are part of the department's development group and participate in the Department of Culture's coordinated work with analyses and follow-up of political goals and mandates, based on the department's work and perspective.

In practice, your assignment means that you regularly:

  • Support the department head in planning, development, and follow-up issues.
  • Are part of the management group for the department and handle joint planning, preparatory work, and decision-making documentation.
  • Carry out compilations, feasibility studies, and status analyses within selected development areas.

Based on the varying needs of the activities, you also have the following tasks:

  • Process leadership within the framework of temporary larger or smaller development projects.
  • Prepare documentation for service statements to the Cultural Board.

Qualifications

For the position, you need to have:

  • A relevant university degree in social sciences or humanities.
  • Experience in management support and operational planning.
  • Experience in carrying out compilations, feasibility studies, and status analyses.
  • Experience in driving development processes or change management, from feasibility study to implementation and follow-up.
  • Experience working in museums or similar cultural institutions.
  • Experience with Office/Teams and digital planning tools.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience of systematic goal setting and follow-up work in the public sector.
  • Knowledge of project methodology.

The work alternates between administrative, more operational tasks and long-term planning and analysis with a strategic focus. You can see your work as part of a larger context and understand how it affects and is affected by other parts of the organization. Your working style is characterized by a willingness to serve, curiosity, reflection, good communication skills, and a desire to contribute to joint learning and improvements in management work. You have the ability to independently lead work groups and can take a coaching and guiding role in various development processes.
