Job Responsibilities

The Real Estate Division of the City Property Administration is responsible for ensuring the long-term usability of our properties with good technical status, sustainability, and satisfied customers. The division is responsible for commissioning the implementation of maintenance and investment measures, repairs, and ongoing supervision and care by the administration's operational departments. We have a strategic role within the entire technology and sustainability area; we develop and follow up on technical requirements and instructions needed for operations and construction, as well as leading and coordinating environmental issues within the administration. We are actively working towards the goal of becoming a fossil-free administration by 2030 and implementing the city's Environmental and Climate Program.

At the City Property Administration, there are unique opportunities to be part of future and sustainable urban development. The City Property Administration in Gothenburg is one of Sweden's largest public real estate managers, with over two million square meters of floor space and an investment budget of over 15 billion SEK until 2029. We are now looking for an Environmental Engineer where you will be offered an independent and exciting job. You will be involved in the development of the environmental area within the administration and the construction process. You will work in a team together with three other environmental engineers, as well as a larger environmental function consisting of environmental investigators, environmental coordinators, and climate specialists.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Follow up on environmental requirements in new, renovation, and maintenance projects, and make decisions regarding environmental deviations in projects.
  • Guide and support construction project managers and other construction project actors, such as consultants and contractors, on environmental issues throughout the construction process, ranging from material requirements for a non-toxic environment to resource-efficient waste management.
  • Conduct investigations within the field of expertise and provide expert support in more complex investigations/consultations.
  • Play an important role in raising competence and developing the City Property Administration within the environmental area.
  • Act as technical support and a requirement setter within the environmental area throughout the entire construction and management phase.
  • Participate in networks both within Gothenburg Municipality and nationally.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a relevant university education or equivalent in the environmental field, as well as several years of work experience in the environment, preferably as an environmental coordinator in construction projects. You have a holistic understanding of how environment, construction, system, and material choices interact. Experience with material inventory, environmental technical soil investigations, remediation, climate, and acoustics is also an asset.

We believe you are:

  • structured and analytical, and can effectively develop working methods and instructions
  • accustomed to implementing and following up on environmental requirements
  • willing to be out in production and actively follow up on requirements in construction projects
  • able to engage, communicate, and contribute to others' understanding and learning regarding environmental issues based on your own competence
  • communicative and pedagogical, with the ability to increase knowledge and understanding of our environmental ambitions and requirements, as well as other technical instructions and working methods
  • working for the best interests of the organization and the end customer from a holistic perspective while representing the unit
  • accustomed to driving environmental-related investigations
  • for this position, you must hold a B driver's license

About Us

The City Property Administration creates environments where life can take place by planning, building, leasing, managing, and developing premises and outdoor environments for Gothenburg Municipality's operations. Every day, hundreds of thousands of Gothenburg residents are active in preschools, schools, care and nursing homes, and other premises that we manage.

Together with the Urban Environment Administration, the Development Administration, and the City Planning Administration, we have a coordinated responsibility for urban development in Gothenburg. This implies a shared distribution of responsibilities and roles based on phases: planning; implementation and management, with the goal of contributing to a cohesive, efficient, and transparent urban development for residents, visitors, and businesses in the city.
